Software Engineer - Mission Planning

Are you interested in creating mission critical software to support our warfighter? Do you want to work on a team developing new and emerging technologies? We are looking to add additional Software Developers to our scrum teams. This is a Mid Level position. Work location is in Niceville, FL. Must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.

Responsibilities — What you’ll do:
  • Determine operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions.
  • Document and demonstrate solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and clear code.
  • Prepare and install solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming.
  • Improve operations by conducting systems analysis; recommending changes in policies and procedures.
  • Obtain and license software by obtaining required information from vendors; recommending purchases; testing and approving products.
  • Update job knowledge by studying state-of-the-art development tools, programming techniques, and computing equipment; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Provide information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing development and service issues.
  • Accomplish engineering and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
  • Design, develop, and deploy iterative and incremental software solutions derived from a project's requirements/user stories/PBIs.
  • Support existing applications for customers and organization.
  • Prototype new and redesign features.
  • Protect operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications — We need someone who:
  • Has a Bachelor's Degree from four-year college or university, and has 9+ years professional work experience as a software developer.
  • Has certificates, licenses and registrations in the following (recommended): (Scrum.org) PSD 1, PSM I(Scrum Alliance) CSP, CSD(SAFe) SDP, ST,ASE(Microsoft) MTA, MCP, MCSA, MCSD
  • Has the following computer skills: Development Software; Microsoft Office Suite 2
  • Is familiar with the programming languages most often used are C#, C, C++, and Java.
  • Has the ability to work in a team environment and provide or seek assistance from peers to complete projects.
  • Has a commitment to excellence and high standards.
  • Has excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Has strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Has the ability to manage priorities and workflow.
  • Has a demonstrated ability to plan and organize projects.

  • Has proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Has a working knowledge and understanding of the basic principles, theories, concepts, and practices in the applicable area of engineering/technical specialization.
  • Has proven ability to write clear technical documentation.
  • Has the ability to work on complex projects with general direction and minimal guidance.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
Preferred — It’s even better if you:
  • Have proven experience building Windows platform desktop and client/server applications using C#, WPF, and SQL.
  • Have experience developing web applications using front end frameworks and libraries such as React, Redux, Vue.js, Angular, and/or jQuery.
  • Have a good understanding of CSS and CSS pre-processing platforms, such as LESS and SASS.
  • Are able to build robust, scalable, event-driven, backends that are service-based or structures such as microservices using containerization.
  • Are proficient with source control software like TFS, Git, or Bitbucket.
  • Have used Software Development Lifecycle tool suites like Azure DevOps or Atlassian.
  • Have examples of code we can check out, like GitHub or SourceForge repositories, any applications you’ve built, pet projects, or submissions to hackathons and/or game jams.
  • Have any experience with Mission Planning Software development, like the Joint Mission Planning System (JMPS).
  • Have experience with Universal Armament Interface (UAI) or Fly Out Models (FOM) for weapon systems.
  • Have any experience working in a defense contractor development role.
  • Received one or more Scrum, Microsoft, Google Developer certifications or any other technical certifications.
  • Currently hold a U.S. Government security clearance.
