Job Description

Reporting to the Director, Hospital Information System (HIS) Project Control, the Manager, HIS Project Management Office, is an experienced project management professional with experience leading large transformational changes within health care to support the development and lead the implementation activities of the HIS. The individual will be part of the project leadership team and is accountable for overseeing all aspects of the project lifecycle, from initial planning and requirements gathering to deployment and go-live readiness.

Working closely with key stakeholders and cross-functional teams, the successful candidate will ensure that project milestones are met on time, within budget and according to quality standards. The individual's expertise in project management will be instrumental in driving successful outcomes and achieving organizational goals.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead team to support overseeing all aspects of the project lifecycle, from initial planning and requirements gathering to deployment and go-live readiness
  • Oversee communications, finance and procurement requirements and activities associated with the HIS implementation
  • Ensure security and privacy key deliverables are completed in prep for go-live which includes a threat risk assessment and privacy impact assessment
  • Develop and manage overall project plan and schedule to fulfill the implementation requirements of the HIS project
  • Collaborate with project implementation staff throughout all phases of the system development life cycle
  • Maintain scope, schedule and quality for the project plan
  • Collaborating with a range of stakeholders including business and clinical, ensuring effective engagement and communication of project milestones and decisions
  • Advising and coaching team members by providing guidance on project issues, key success factors of the project and lessons learned
  • Organizing resources to complete project tasks on time and within budget
  • Guiding workflow design, build and test activities, and analyzing other technical issues associated with the HIS software
  • Creating and executing a strategy to set the operational direction for the organization’s workflows
  • Work closely with the HIS leadership team to evaluate and prioritize project priorities
  • Liaise with other leaders within the project to ensure that configuration decisions are made on time, adequately documented and then implemented into the HIS configuration
  • Collaborate extensively with various departments, including clinical operations, quality, professional practice and IT, to align digital initiatives with broader organizational goals
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for innovation, optimization and adoption

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a health discipline, health care administration, computer science, business or related degree required
  • Project Management Professional certification is required
  • Minimum of seven years of leadership and project management experience including building, maintaining and implementing project plans in the Canadian health care industry
  • Minimum of five years experience in implementing and operating a modern HIMSS Stage 6 IT-enabled projects involving complex change management; IT and project governance processes is preferred
  • Understanding of core hospital processes and previous working experience with commonly used health care applications including modern HIS platforms and technologies
  • Familiarity in project management tools and software (e.g. Microsoft Project, Visio, Jira) and knowledge of change management principles and methodologies
  • Must be an enthusiastic and creative leader with the ability to inspire and motivate people and have a proven ability to develop and foster strong stakeholder relationships
  • Must be successful in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment and be results-oriented
  • Demonstrated change management and transformational leadership skills with effective interpersonal and negotiation skills including written and verbal communication skills is required
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with a strong ability to coach and mentor team members through each phase of the HIS project

Hours: Currently days (subject to change in accordance with operational requirements)

This is a Hybrid role. Roles that function remotely, but require essential, regular onsite weekly work.

Annual Salary:  
Minimum: $113,061
Maximum: $141,336
