Job description

Marie Curie is the UK’s leading end-of-life charity. We are the largest non-NHS provider of end-of-life care in the UK, the only provider across all 4 nations, delivering community nursing and hospice care across the country, while providing information and support on all aspects of dying, death, and bereavement. Our leading research pushes the boundaries of what we know about good end-of-life, and our campaigns fight for a world where everyone gets to have the best possible quality of life while living with an illness, they’re likely to die from.

As a Project Manager you will work collaboratively across the organisation, both at a local and national level, providing project management expertise and skills for the effective delivery of business change initiatives aimed to optimise performance and make cost-effective changes to the way the organisation works. You will lead project teams to deliver a wide range of business change projects and initiatives. Using effective project management techniques, you will define, plan, deliver and review project activity to achieve strategic outcomes.

You will be responsible for:

  • Proactively engaging in understanding the work of the business, demonstrating the ability to develop commercially relevant business cases and planning for projects and change.
  • Applying project management methods and skills to initiate, design, plan, deliver and effectively close projects and change initiatives, using a standardised approach to deliver a high standard of work.
  • Creating a collaborative and supportive working environment with regard to all projects being managed. Ensuring all team members are clear on roles, responsibilities, targets, deadlines and are supported in the delivery of their work.
  • Providing clear and concise documentation with regards to the delivery of projects, providing clear outcomes, roadmaps for delivery, and performance tracking to support decision making, risk mitigation, progress reporting and the effective delivery of outputs, outcomes and benefits.
  • Pre-empting problems and identifying risks through application of a risk management strategy, with the aim to always mitigate and reduce the impact to all activities to ensure project success.

Key Criteria:

  • Industry recognised project management qualification (Agile, Prince 2, APM or equivalent) – or demonstrated equivalent experience managing fiscally successful operational change projects.
  • Experience leading project teams; including setting objectives, planning and prioritising work and managing and reporting on project budgets.
  • Experienced in managing business change and demonstrating benefits from change activity.
  • Relationship management skills and the ability to negotiate with and influence decision makers.
  • Proficient with full Microsoft Office Suite.
