Position Summary:

The Commercial Strategy Designer will be part of the commercial pursuit studio and will have the responsibility of crafting compelling pitches, proposals, and marketing materials. Reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer, this role is ultimately responsible for representing VGV in a go-to-market capacity, blending strategic visioning, storytelling, and graphic design into exciting proposals. The ideal candidate will be both a sales-minded strategist and a hands-on creative designer, capable of producing high-quality, visually stunning materials and messages that drive awareness, engagement, and new business opportunities. Lastly, this role will be a leader who can effectively coordinate and manage various stakeholders, both internally and client-facing, to create persuasive proposals and content.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Positioning: Ensure the company's offerings, positioning, and commercial communications are aligned with prospect / market needs and clearly articulated. 
  • Pre-Sales & Pursuit Execution: Lead the development of high-quality pitches, proposals, and pre-sales enablement materials that support the business development process. Ensure all materials are strategically aligned, visually compelling, and effectively communicate VGV's value proposition to win new business. Coordinate pursuit team participants to enable efficient contributions and collaboration, and own the deliverables to drive quality and timely delivery.
  • Proposal Project Management - Lead the behind the scenes aspects of our pursuit process from ensuring collaboration to facilitating leadership reviews, ultimately responsible for timely delivery to prospective clients.
  • Commercial Messaging: Drive marketing awareness of VGV’s comprehensive brand and commercial strategy by crafting and designing compelling messaging strategies, client success stories, and narratives across all touchpoints, including sales enablement materials (capability decks, proposals, one-pagers), whitepapers, case studies, webinars, the company website, conference and event materials, swag, and more.
  • Design Leadership: Manage the consistent and high quality design execution of go-to-market materials, ensuring they are visually stunning, on-brand, and effectively communicate business messages. Serve as a hands-on designer, setting the standard for information design and visual design within the go-to-market function.
  • Continuous Improvement - After proposals, run retrospectives with delivery teams to ensure commercial materials accurately reflect processes, milestones, and deliverables of projects once they are live.
  • Competitive Analysis: Stay informed on industry trends, market positioning, and evolving customer needs to continuously refine and adapt VGV’s commercial strategy and brand execution. Conduct ongoing analysis of the competitive landscape, monitoring and adapting to changing competitive narratives and positioning of direct and aspirational competitors.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with sales, marketing, and services teams to ensure go-to-market narratives and content are aligned across the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 6+ years of experience in sales and commercial strategy, commercial design, graphic design, or related role.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to craft clear, compelling messaging across various formats and platforms.
  • Design Skills: Exceptional visual design skills with a focus on creating compelling business messages. Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Keynote/Google Slides, etc. with a strong portfolio showcasing hands-on ability to convey strategic stories through high quality information design and visual communication.
  • Strategic Mindset: Proven ability to develop brand and commercial strategies and translate them into messaging and content that drive business results. Strong understanding of how to position complex services in competitive markets.
  • Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally, influencing and partnering with stakeholders across sales, marketing, product, and design teams.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the digital design and development industry, particularly within the context of technology consulting and Flutter.

Accountable for:

  1. Owning the commercial messaging components of the company across all sales enablement vehicles
  2. Ensuring all public marketing materials are aligned in brand strategy and design execution
  3. Delivery of compelling, timely, and quality sales enablement documents (pre-sales, sales documents, proposals) to win new business
