We are hiring Senior Student Counsellor for our client based in OMR, Chennai.

Position: Senior Student Counsellor
Location: OMR, Chennai
Job Type: Full-time, No work from home.

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and empathetic Student Counsellor with at least 3-4 years of experience in providing guidance and support to students. The ideal candidate will work closely with students, guiding them in academic, career, and personal matters, with a focus on international education and career opportunities. The counsellor will also help students navigate the admissions process for overseas universities, ensuring they meet application requirements and deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

1.    Student Consultation:
  • Provide one-on-one counselling to students regarding career options, academic choices, and personal development.
  • Assess students' academic records, interests, and career aspirations to suggest suitable education and career paths.

2.    Education Guidance:
  • Advise students on higher education options, including courses, programs, and institutions both domestically and internationally.
  • Assist with research and provide detailed information about universities, programs, admissions processes, and visa requirements.

3.    Application Support:
  • Guide students through the entire application process for universities abroad, including document preparation, form submission, and financial aid/scholarship applications.
  • Review application materials such as essays, personal statements, and resumes to ensure high-quality submissions.
4.    Workshops & Seminars:
  • Organize and conduct workshops, webinars, and seminars on career counselling, study abroad opportunities, and skill development.
  • Collaborate with internal and external experts to provide comprehensive learning sessions.
5.    Parental Engagement:
  • Communicate with parents to keep them informed about their children’s academic progress, university choices, and opportunities.
  • Address concerns and provide insights about education financing, scholarships, and long-term career prospects.
6.    Relationship Building:
  • Maintain relationships with students throughout their counselling journey, offering continuous support even after admission.
  • Build partnerships with universities, educational institutions, and other relevant stakeholders for potential collaborations.
7.    Data Management:
  • Maintain and update student records, counselling notes, and feedback in the company’s system.
  • Prepare reports on student outcomes and counselling success rates.

Requirements
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Experience: Minimum 4 years of experience in student counselling, preferably in an education consultancy setting.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Career Counselling, or a related field. A master's degree or certification in career counselling is a plus.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and institutions.
  • Interpersonal Skills: High emotional intelligence, with the ability to empathize with students and provide personalized advice.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to help students overcome obstacles and make well-informed decisions about their academic and career future.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with the application processes for international universities, visa processes, and scholarship opportunities.
  • Tech-Savvy: Proficiency in using digital tools for virtual counselling, webinars, and data management.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong multitasking and time management abilities, capable of handling a large volume of student inquiries.
