Job description

What does a Payroll Service Specialist do?

The Payroll Service Specialist is responsible for payroll orienting and continued communication with Field Talent, creating a positive experience, and maintaining a high level of professionalism.  Assist with other field payroll functions while maintaining the Company core values of Integrity, Candor, Accountability, Respect and Excellence.

What does your day-to-day to look like?

  • Serve as positive representation of Supplemental Health Care and the payroll team
  • Respond to payroll service phone calls and AskPayroll email box
  • Research and accurately solve issues pertaining to Field Talent pay
  • Process “one off” pay items/corrections in UltraStaff and/or Great Plains
  • Text talent to request time instruments not received in payroll by noon on Monday
  • Reach out to facilities for time instrument approvals
  • Audit new hire direct deposits and withholding taxes in Great Plains
  • Coach Talent on the use of the Employee Time Card (ETC) or other time instrument requirements
  • Coach facilities on the use of the ETC
  • Process adjustments in UltraStaff
  • Ability to process pay/bill function and print invoices in UltraStaff as needed
  • Reset Doculivery passwords
  • Request Global Cash Cards
  • Provide paystubs as requested
  • Accurately enter advance requests on advance spreadsheet, ensure advance request forms are received and signed by talent
  • Upload pay items to the bank for approval.
  • Help to create an environment of high morale, motivation and teamwork
  • Other duties as assigned
What do you need to possess to succeed?
  • Education: Associates Degree and 2 or more years in an SHC Payroll Specialist role OR two (2) or more years of relevant experience, AND at least two (2) years in an SHC Payroll Specialist role
  • Knowledge of proper grammar, spelling and rules of composition
  • Must have a working knowledge of computers and software systems including Microsoft Office products and the Internet
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office, TRM, UltraStaff, Great Plains and the SHC payroll process
  • Must be detail-oriented and highly organized
  • Ability to work independently and with other team members
  • Ability to organize and complete work in a timely manner
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Must be able to work for prolonged periods of sitting, typing and use of the phone and computer
  • Must successfully complete onboarding training/tutorials and attend future webcasts/trainings as required

 Pay Range: $17.60 - $25.00 per hour (depending on experience) + Bonus potential
