Job Description:

GDIT plays a leading role in building and modernizing web applications and data management solutions for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). We also provide architecture, implementation, data analysis and operations support for large scale data migration and integration of cloud IT systems.

GDIT is seeking a Data Scientist, who will work collaboratively with other Data Scientists / Data Analysts and with CMS to define, develop, test and deliver top quality analysis results for CMS requests.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Develops data-driven solutions to unusually complex business challenges.
  • Utilizes advanced tools and computational skills to interpret, connect, predict, and make discoveries in complex data and deliver recommendations for business and analytic decisions.
  • Provides technical leadership and direction in implementing data management practices.
  • Participates in meetings and discussions for any new work, including special projects, assisting with high level ROMs and detailed estimates.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and gathering techniques.
  • Uses predictive modeling to increase and optimize customer experiences, efficiencies, process improvements, and other business outcomes.
  • Guides the successful completion of major projects and may function in a project leadership role.
  • Coaches and reviews the work of less-experienced professionals. Attends and/or facilitates meetings and forums with all the stakeholders on both technical and business project topics.
  • Participates in collaborative reviews of Use Cases, SQL development and deliverables.
  • Ensures quality assurance of project deliverables.
  • Participates in Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) ceremonies.
  • Collaborates with team members and management to identify risks and mitigation activities.
  • Escalates to Resource Management and Scrum Masters the appropriate team issues and accomplishments.
  • Defines, communicates, and promotes best practices.
  • Participates in special projects as required.
  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA/BS in Computer Science or related discipline.
  • 8+ years related to data analysis  
  • Familiarity with Medicare data and business processes, specifically Part D and Part B claims.
  • Highly proficient with Structured Query Language (SQL) on one or more database platforms.
  • Working knowledge of Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) or related Agile methodology.
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust

The likely salary range for this position is $106,371 - $143,750. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
