We are currently seeking a highly experienced Senior Software Engineer who is passionate about leveraging technology to support business operations and end-user requirements. This pivotal role involves leading multiple development initiatives, aiming to successfully deliver new products, enhance existing offerings, and provide bespoke solutions to our customers. The ideal candidate will exhibit strong leadership qualities, the ability to take full ownership of projects, and seamlessly integrate into Whip Media’s dynamic, start-up culture. To be successful in the role of Senior Software Engineer at Whip Media, a candidate must demonstrate a robust combination of technical expertise, leadership skills, and project management capabilities. Proficiency in software development, particularly in Java, Python, and SQL, is crucial. What You Will Do:

  • Ensure the technical viability of solutions as outlined in project requirements and change requests.
  • Plan, supervise, and review the work of multiple developers, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
  • Mentor junior members of the development team, fostering professional growth and enhancing their technical skills.
  • Lead the design process and review code primarily in Java, Python, and SQL.
  • Spearhead the enhancement of data models to accommodate increasing data volumes.
  • Develop and implement algorithms for data synchronization across distributed systems.
  • Write comprehensive technical requirements and design documents.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to drive the development of new platforms and internal tools.
  • Lead the design and development of solutions that process data from various internal and external sources using existing product APIs.
  • Lead the creation of advanced reporting solutions utilizing SQL and third-party Business Intelligence platforms.
Requirements

What You Will Bring:

  • Over 10 years of experience with software design and development, particularly in Java.
  • At least 5 years of experience managing software engineering teams.
  • Direct experience collaborating with product managers and/or business analysts to refine requirements and develop user stories.
  • Proficiency with Spring framework and its core components, including Spring Boot, Spring Security, Spring Data, and Spring Data REST.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Strong experience with data modeling in both SQL environments (preferably PostgreSQL) and non-relational technologies.
  • Familiarity with AWS APIs and services (S3, Lambda, SNS, SQS) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Web Services (REST), JavaScript, Git, and unit testing.
  • Experience in mentoring engineers and providing technical guidance.
  • Exposure to and understanding of NoSQL systems like Elasticsearch is advantageous.

The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $140,000 - $190,000. Additionally, you will be eligible to participate in our company’s equity program, plus our robust medical, dental, vision, retirement, and other benefits. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job, job-related skills, experience, relevant education/certifications or training, and balancing internal equity relative to peers at the company.
