Job Overview

We are seeking a strategic and analytical Merchandise Planning & Inventory Director to join our innovative retail company. This role is instrumental in optimizing merchandise planning and inventory management, thus driving significant business success in a dynamic market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of comprehensive merchandise plans, overseeing seasonal planning, in-season forecasting, and effective inventory stock management.
  • Build and nurture collaborative partnerships with cross-functional teams, including merchandising, product development, marketing, finance, and operations, ensuring cohesive execution of merchandise strategies.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of data trends and inventory flow to unearth opportunities for optimization and enhance profitability.
  • Manage the entire inventory lifecycle, facilitating pre-season planning, in-season adjustments, and post-season clearance and analysis.
  • Ensure optimal inventory levels that align with customer demand while meeting financial objectives, including fulfillment, turnover, and profitability targets.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, inventory control, business, accounting, retail, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in retail demand planning and/or forecasting, ideally within an apparel or eCommerce context.
  • Proficient in purchase order systems and inventory management practices.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including the use of pivot tables.
  • Strong strategic and tactical thinking abilities for managing both immediate and long-term planning needs.
  • Excellent collaborative skills to work effectively with diverse cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical capabilities to interpret data and make informed business decisions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • At least 5 years of pertinent experience in retail demand planning and/or forecasting.
  • Experience in an apparel or eCommerce environment is preferred.
