Job description

Position: Director of Solutions Delivery - Investments

We are thrilled to present an exceptional opportunity for a Director of Solutions Delivery to become an integral part of our dynamic team! In this critical role, you will lead our IT group, delivering vital support to our investment-focused teams. You will manage a collaborative, cross-functional agile team dedicated to enhancing platforms and applications in Investments, Investment Accounting, Investment Risk, and Investment Data & Analytics. This dedicated team is essential in driving various IT capabilities, including custom software development, data integrations, and third-party configurations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the design, maintenance, and performance improvement of applications pertinent to Investment Strategy and Investment Accounting.
  • Cultivate strong, daily interactions with vendors in Investment Strategy and Investment Accounting.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for technological challenges affecting Investment Strategy and Investment Accounting applications.
  • Supervise the Investments Technical Architecture and the technical automation capabilities within the business unit.
  • Collaborate with the Investments business unit to gain insights into their strategic roadmaps and convert them into executable technology initiatives.
  • Partner closely with the Chief of Staff, Architecture, and Engineering teams to ensure alignment with broader enterprise objectives.
  • Lead both internal and external development teams (e.g., PMs, Software Engineers, Data Engineers, Data Analysts) to provide outstanding services.
  • Manage solutions delivery processes, ensuring that design, development, and support needs are estimated accurately while meeting quality expectations.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and practices, sharing pertinent insights with leadership to inform strategic directions.
  • Oversee vendor relationships, ensuring adherence to contract terms and performance metrics.
  • Develop RFPs and assess proposals to make informed buy vs. build decisions, including negotiating contracts with appropriate SLAs.
  • Guarantee timely completion of projects within budget, delivering quality outcomes that satisfy business requirements.
  • Ensure compliance of all solutions with security protocols and alignment with disaster recovery plans.
  • Spearhead initiatives to phase out legacy systems and solutions.
  • Define and evaluate roadmaps, architectures, frameworks, and associated risks, managing compliance to mitigate exposure.
  • Estimate resources for all engagements and oversee project teams involving both internal personnel and external partners.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree is required; an advanced degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 8 years of leadership experience in Information Technology, with a focus on applications architecture and development/programming.
  • At least 5 years managing outsourced vendors and internal teams.
  • Over 3 years of experience leading cross-functional development teams.
  • Proven experience in designing, implementing, and monitoring adherence to policies, processes, and standards.
  • Essential familiarity with financial management and contract management; knowledge in Business Process Re-engineering, Six Sigma, or Lean methodologies is advantageous.

Required Skills

  • Robust experience leading teams within the Life and Annuity Insurance or Investments domains.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Investment and Investment Accounting processes and automation trends.
  • Proficiency in applications architecture, frameworks, and enterprise solutions delivery.
  • Experience in agile project management; certification is a plus.
  • Insight into the Financial Services industry is beneficial.
  • Capacity to manage multiple concurrent projects and initiatives.
  • Strong leadership capabilities to coordinate team activities and mobilize resources effectively.
  • Familiarity with financial statements, metrics, and reporting methodologies.
  • Expertise in testing principles, tools, and environments.
  • Proven ability in IT strategic planning and architectural design, along with establishing policies and standards.
  • Excellent networking and relationship-building skills across organizational boundaries and with service providers.
  • Current knowledge of solution and information security, compliance, and disaster recovery principles.
  • A business-focused and results-oriented mindset with solid fiscal acumen, including budgeting and ROI analysis.
  • A consultative and client-centric approach with a collaborative orientation.
  • Exceptional leadership acumen, capable of influencing and negotiating with peers and vendors.
  • Strong project management skills; PMI certification is a plus.
  • Professional demeanor, decisive in action, with integrity and high ethical standards.
