Senior Tax Accountant - Ballwin, MO - Remote | WFH

Job Overview

We are on the lookout for a proactive and detail-oriented Senior Tax Accountant to join our esteemed tax team. This remote position is integral to maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local tax legislation. Applicants must reside in one of the following states: Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Texas, or Virginia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare comprehensive schedules for federal, state, and local income tax compliance, including intricate apportionment schedules for a large consolidated federal group.
  • Develop and sustain detailed records for partnership returns and capital account management.
  • Assist in transfer pricing excel modeling utilizing extensive workbooks.
  • Produce supporting schedules for corporate income tax accounting in accordance with ASC 740.
  • Review fixed assets to support tax depreciation calculations prepared by external accountants.
  • Conduct necessary research and document conclusions thoroughly.
  • Collaborate in reviewing workpapers for compliance and quarterly estimates, ensuring their precision and completeness.
  • Manage the Tax Calendar to guarantee timely task completion.
  • Strictly adhere to departmental policies and procedures.
  • Support federal, state, and local audits, addressing notices related to both income and non-income taxes.
  • Assist with SOX documentation and auditor walkthroughs.
  • Participate in acquisition integrations and contribute to ongoing process enhancements.
  • Engage in additional projects as necessary.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in Excel spreadsheets, Word, and automated tax preparation software (CorpTax experience is advantageous).
  • Familiarity with general ledger software (SAP experience is preferred) and depreciation software (FAS experience is desirable).
  • Strong written and verbal communication capabilities, complemented by a customer-focused mindset.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, coupled with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting (master's degree or CPA certification preferred).
  • CPA certificate or enrolled agent designation is a plus.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a tax or accounting role, particularly with advanced Excel proficiency.
