Job description

Job Title: Financial Analyst

Location: Chicago, IL (Remote options available)

Duration: 6+ months

We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Financial Analyst to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will provide vital finance and accounting services that focus on compensation and equity transactions. You will engage in a variety of critical tasks, such as recording journal entries, tracking compensation, performing account reconciliations, supporting monthly closing procedures, preparing financial statement reports, and assisting with annual audits.

As a Financial Analyst, you will work closely with internal departments including Corporate Accounting, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), Human Resources (HR), Tax, Treasury, and Payroll. Your exceptional analytical, reporting, and systems skills, particularly with Excel VBA and database tools, will be crucial for success in this position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct variance analysis at account and legal entity levels.
  • Perform necessary bank reconciliations.
  • Track awards associated with new offer letters, continuing employment letters, and separation agreements.
  • Compile and review journal entries for cash and non-cash compensation items during the monthly closing process.
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Controller and Compensation Controller to manage the firm's incentive compensation process and communicate relevant details with the HR department.
  • Provide award payment details to Payroll on a semi-monthly basis.
  • Reconcile compensation accounts monthly for all legal entities.
  • Prepare annual phantom award letters for eligible employees.
  • Identify, develop, and implement process improvements to boost efficiency and productivity.
  • Engage closely with Tax, Treasury, and FP&A Management Reporting departments as necessary.
  • Assist with tasks related to corporate audits.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA or MBA preferred).
  • 4-8 years of experience in corporate reporting or corporate financial management.
  • Preferred experience in the financial services sector.
  • Detail-oriented with a hands-on approach and a strong commitment to accuracy.
  • Proficient in computer skills, especially Excel.
  • Strong work ethic and ownership of assigned responsibilities.
  • Experience with OneStream software is an advantage; familiarity with ledger database structures and organizational hierarchies is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of recent GAAP pronouncements and the ability to apply these standards in practice is critical.
  • Familiarity with monthly and annual closing processes using GL systems is beneficial.
  • Coding experience, especially in Excel VBA, is desirable.
