Job Overview

We are actively seeking passionate part-time Instructors for our dynamic after-school program that caters to 120 students, from Kindergarten to 5th grade. Our initiative is dedicated to fostering both academic and social skills essential for success in elementary education. Through a comprehensive approach, we offer a vibrant mix of activities, including homework support, art, dance, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), fitness, leadership, and social-emotional learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Classroom Leadership: Guide a group of 10-15 elementary students, ensuring a stimulating and positive learning atmosphere, whether in-person or remotely. As an ambassador of our program, you will embody and promote the school’s culture during after-school hours.
  • Lesson Planning: Develop and execute engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans that align with our program’s objectives, emphasizing Literacy, STEM, and social-emotional learning. Collaborate with fellow instructors to inspire students towards a college-ready mindset.
  • Safety and Protocols: Adhere to all safety regulations for both remote and in-person instruction, ensuring a secure and organized environment. This includes sanitizing student materials at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Role Model: Act as a professional role model for students, demonstrating punctuality, respect, and accountability. Maintain high standards in attendance, appearance, and interactions with students, colleagues, parents, and school personnel.
  • Parent Communication: Address any parental concerns with professionalism, providing exceptional customer service through direct meetings, phone calls, or email correspondence.
  • Adaptability: Exhibit flexibility and readiness to adjust to changes, ensuring smooth operation of the program even amidst last-minute modifications.

Qualifications

  • Education: Currently pursuing a college degree (BA minimum required).
  • Experience: Minimum of one year of experience working with school-age children (Middle School/High School experience preferred).
  • Commitment: Must be able to commit to the program through the end of June.
  • Languages: Bilingual proficiency in Spanish or Mandarin is highly desirable.

  • Communication: Strong capacity to convey information clearly in both individual and group environments.
