Description

Our client is preparing for the next leap in how they serve patients, caregivers, care providers, and researchers with their Patient Registry. They have an ambitious vision for this next generation health data ecosystem: linking the existing records to many sources of additional data (e.g., electronic medical records, patient-reported outcomes, wearables, clinical trials, pharmacy, genetics, and claims) while providing patients with the power to control what is shared and with whom; welcoming flexibility and building a new architecture that will leverage the opportunities the next decade will bring in healthcare and technology solutions.

The QA Engineer will be an essential member of the new health data ecosystem team managing and executing testing for the system configuration of the patient registry and its integrations. The QA Engineer will be part of an interdisciplinary technology team and will work closely with developers and clinical data specialists. They will be the main QA resource on the project team and will be responsible for establishing the test approach and validating requirements before they are provided to the business and end-users for testing. The QA Engineer role will report to the Application Development Manager and work closely with the Head of Data Science.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Project Manager, Enterprise Architect, Product Owner, and Data Wrangler to develop the testing strategy, determine level of testing effort, identify risks, and prioritize test scenarios and cases to ensure testing is completed based on project plans. Design and develop test scenarios, repeatable test cases, as well as automated scripts for select requirements, to validate functional requirements, technical requirements, and integrations (EMR integrations, Identity Provider, and others).
  • Identify and prepare test data for executing test scenarios and procedures.
  • Perform all manual and automated test execution. Also assist the Data Wrangler and Data Engineer with data validation.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of identified defects, providing the Project Team with sufficient detail to understand, prioritize, replicate, and resolve issues.
  • Properly document issues in a bug tracking system like DevOps.
  • Define the scope of testing, write test cases, and provide support and guidance for UAT.
  • Collaborate with the PM to generate status reports of QA efforts.

Requirements

  • BS in Computer Science or a related technical discipline or equivalent work experience.
  • A minimum of 4 years combined experience in software development, Q/A, or dev/ops engineering.
  • Strong experience with debugging and isolating defects.
  • Expertise with testing methodologies, test plan and test case development, and the defect reporting process.
  • Manual and Automation Regression tests generation/execution
  • Integration tests generation/execution.
  • Knowledge of Continuous Integration servers such as Azure DevOps, Octopus, or Jenkins.
  • Knowledge of defect tracking and tools (i.e DevOps and/or Jira).
  • Experience with testing frameworks.
  • Experience with writing automated tests in Selenium, cypress.io, or similar tools.
  • Self-driven, works well independently but also able to collaborate with the team.
  • Understanding of health industry systems and standards (e.g. EHR systems, HL7) and InterSystems desired.
  • Understanding HIPAA and relevant FDA regulations.
