Job Description:

The Battle.net Game Publication team develops and maintains mission-critical services which package and distribute Activision Blizzard games to millions of players worldwide and which are used internally by game studios for development and testing. Our mission is to deliver games as efficiently as possible and keep them ready to play, with the latest content, so that players can connect and build meaningful friendships through our epic entertainment experiences.

You will join a small, close-knit Empowered Product Team that is at the focal point of automated publishing & game distribution at Activision Blizzard. You will be directly involved with every major game release!

This position has been approved for fully remote work with the potential for some light travel. We also welcome candidate who would like to work in a hybrid capacity based out of Albany, NY, Irvine, CA or Austin, TX.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain, debug, and improve a multitiered distributed application in equal parts Python, C++, and JavaScript/HTM
  • Adhere to established coding standards & development philosophies, maintain efficient coding practices, and produce clean code that works
  • Perform research to discover new, enabling technologies and acquire knowledge necessary to complete assigned tasks
  • Work closely with Product Managers to define viable product features that our customers love and that work for our business
  • Mentor junior engineers and participate in code reviews

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience with software development in both Python and C++17
  • Experience with Cloud Computing and Autoscaling
  • Experience developing multitiered distributed applications & RESTful APIs
  • Knowledge of network and server security issues
  • Detailed understanding of transfer protocols such as HTTP, FTP, S3, Gopher (yes Gopher), etc

Bonus:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science
  • Familiarity with Python frameworks including Flask, Django, and Celery
  • Experience supporting a live always-on service
  • Experience with Functional Programming through Rust, OCaml, Scala, F#, or Haskell
  • Familiarity with web client development (AngularJS and Material Design)

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $101,000.00 - $186,754.00 Annual. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. Your Talent Professional can share this role’s range details for your local geography during the hiring process. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed. While we strive to provide competitive offers to successful candidates, new hire compensation is negotiable.
