What's the role?
The Senior Human Resources Business Partner (Sr. HRBP, Engineering) is responsible for collaborating with business leaders across the company to deliver talent insights, provide thought partnership, and ensure that our People-driven strategies are effectively aligned with Etsy’s overall business strategies, needs, and goals. This full-time exempt role is a part of Etsy’ People team.
This is a full-time position reporting to the Senior Manager, HR Business Partner (Eng). In addition to salary, you will also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy.
This role requires your presence in Etsy’s Mexico City office once or twice per week depending on your proximity to the office. What does the day-to-day look like?
Partner up with Engineering leaders (IC up to Senior Directors) for day-to-day HRBP responsibilities within engineering and provide support to additional stakeholders within the Mexico City leadership and stakeholders across different orgs.
Identify and handle employee relations issues quickly and sensitively, exercising good judgment and discretion, and partner with our Employee Relations team and/or Employment Counsel as appropriate.
Strategize, advise and support org leaders on complex business situations such as team level organizational design, hiring and compensation decisions, influencing and offering alternative solutions, as needed.
Coach individual contributors, managers and leaders on performance management, feedback, employee development and career pathing and be a resource for individual contributors, when needed.
Build strong trusted relationships and credibility across all levels of business line management.
Represent the HR function in the Mexico City office for all employees and partner with additional HRBPs and stakeholders for any needs or initiatives.
Partner with the broader people team on Etsy’s performance management, talent, compensation and internal mobility processes as it relates to your partner organizations.
Synthesize insights and observations from across the organization to identify improvement areas in HR processes and propose solutions for addressing them.
Facilitate ongoing discussion with leaders on HR analytics and business insights related to workforce demographics, staffing, employee engagement, etc.
Participate and lead projects and initiatives related to the employee life cycle that move the business forward in unknown problem spaces by proposing original solutions backed by supporting evidence.

Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:
7+ years of experience working in Human Resources, 3 years of experience as an HRBP.
Demonstrated sound judgment, and the ability to negotiate critical situations appropriately, with poise, under difficult circumstances.
Knowledge of basic Mexico & U.S. employment law (ie: FMLA and ADA), basic European employment law is a bonus.
Ability to operate independently, including knowing where and how to prioritize projects and time, including finding efficiencies that impact the team.
Experience working in a dynamic, constantly evolving business with corporate functions.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with high attention to detail and organization.
Demonstrate strong strategic thinking, project management, stakeholder management and problem solving competencies.
The ability to effectively strike the right balance of being an advisor to the business but also an advocate for employees.
You have a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.

To be successful in this role, the Senior HR Business Partner will both provide HR guidance and expertise to the company’s leaders while also equipping and empowering those leaders to manage and communicate HR matters with their teams and employees independently and effectively, especially specific to recurring situations and strategies.
