Position: Actuary (Remote | WFH Possible)

Location: Candidates are preferred to be based in the Nashville, TN area or be willing to relocate. While we are open to considering fully remote candidates, please be aware that remote employees will need to participate in onsite interviews and may be required to visit our Brentwood, TN office throughout the year.

Job Overview

Become a vital member of our esteemed Actuary & Business Analytics team, where your actuarial knowledge and innovative approaches will be essential in conducting analyses that underpin pricing strategies for both new and existing accounts. Your efforts will be crucial in monitoring and reporting on overall rate adequacy, significantly contributing to our organization’s success.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will be tasked with the following key responsibilities:

  • Provide actuarially sound pricing indications for large accounts.
  • Assist in the development of new products and services, leveraging your actuarial insights.
  • Oversee the formulation of comprehensive rate level indications.
  • Execute actuarial and statistical analyses to identify trends in claims and premiums.
  • Assess profitability by segment and suggest pricing modifications based on diverse rating variables.
  • Investigate applications of predictive analytics in pricing and risk modeling.
  • Potentially mentor and supervise junior analysts, guiding their professional growth.
  • Collaborate with internal departments such as Underwriting, Accounting, and Claims to meet their pricing, data mining, and reporting requirements.
  • Strive to meet or surpass productivity and quality benchmarks established by your supervisor.
  • Actively engage in process enhancement by identifying areas for improvement and delivering informed recommendations.
  • Maintain a regular presence onsite while remaining adaptable to remote work as business needs dictate.
  • Complete special projects and additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills

To excel in this position, candidates should possess the following skills:

  • Strong interpersonal abilities to work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Advanced expertise in data processing tools, including Microsoft Excel, Power BI, VBA, and Microsoft SQL.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Capability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Expertise in researching, interpreting, analyzing, and synthesizing complex information into actionable insights and presentations.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) in a quantitative field such as mathematics, statistics, economics, or actuarial science, or a relevant blend of education and specialized training.
  • 5-7 years of directly related experience, with a focus on insurance.

Licenses And Professional Designations

  • Fellowship of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS) is preferred, along with 3 to 5 years of experience in professional liability insurance. Alternatively, an Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS) will be considered, with 5 to 7 years of experience in professional liability insurance. Candidates must hold one of these designations, with a preference for FCAS.

Degree Of Supervision

This role operates with no direct supervision, providing autonomy while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
