Area Sales Manager

Within our Domestic Sales team, we are recruiting for an Area Sales Manager to develop relationships with key merchants, domestic patio & driveway installers, and relevant house builders within the area. Would you like to be a part of this award-winning team?

So what’s the role?
Demonstrating your commercial drive and passion, you will have full responsibility for your sales and profitability budget. You will have ownership of implementing your own business plan, whilst working with colleagues to identify new business opportunities. Calling on your fantastic relationship management skills, you’ll be collaborating with other business functions and working closely with the commercial sales team and internal sales developers to help secure new business.

Your keen eye on market trends and competitor activity will stand you in great stead as you plan your time to get the most out of your week and work closely with your Divisional Trading Manager to formulate plans. You will have the opportunity to show your initiative through establishing regular business reviews with identified merchant branches in the area. This is where you can show us how you encourage a mutually profitable working relationship through lead sharing, training and joint initiatives to increase direct-to-site sales and a commitment to a full range of domestic products stocked in yard. We’re ready for you to challenge our expectations, showcase your entrepreneurial skills and really create a space for yourself in a hugely successful and supportive team.

What skills are required?
It would be great if you have experience in the construction industry however we are open to applicants from any sector. It is more important to us that you showcase your skillset as a sales professional – we can teach you the rest! The other skills we would like to see are:

  • Strong commercial experience across a wide number of stakeholders - preferably builders’ merchants, domestic patio & driveway installers, and relevant house builders
  •  Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven track record of growing business through relationships and good commercial processes
  •  Creative thinker and have the ability to think from a solutions perspective
  •  Can negotiate with customers using technical information and specifications as a commercial lever
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, capable of delivering a message with authority and confidence, to an individual or wider audience both internally and externally
  •  An ability to grasp the technical aspects of a product to ensure we can sell on the strength of our products and services rather than price
  • Have a passion for providing excellent customer service
  • Have a keen eye for detail within both commercial processes and administration
