We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Deputy Data Protection Officer to join our team and support our Data Protection Officer in overseeing Sumsub’s data protection strategy and ensuring our company’s compliance with all relevant data protection regulations.


What You Will Do:

  • Manage the team of data protection specialists: coordinating work and task allocation, developing and implementing operational processes, and resource planning to ensure timely and efficient task completion
  • Maintain and update data protection, security and privacy policy documents and procedures, review and draft privacy notices, assist with data protection contractual terms, including contract assessments, DPIAs, DSAs, NDAs for projects, third parties, and tenders
  • Act as a point of contact for regulatory authorities, customers, and internal stakeholders on matters related to data protection and privacy
  • Support the DPO and the team in handling data breaches, coordinating response efforts, and notifying authorities and data subjects as necessary
  • Collaborate with IT, Marketing, Finance, Safeguarding, and HR to ensure GDPR compliance and adherence to data retention schedules
  • Deliver GDPR training to new hires and provide ad-hoc training to staff on data handling (storage, retention, sharing, deletion)
  • Take a proactive approach to identifying and addressing data protection risks, stay updated on data protection laws in relevant regions


About you:

  • 5+ years of practical experience of applying relevant data protection and privacy legislation (GDPR, UK GDPR etc.), 2+ years of experience managing and leading a data protection team
  • IAPP CIPP/E, CIPM or CIPT or equivalent certification is desirable
  • Experience in managing data protection programs within a tech, fintech, or software environment is highly desirable
  • Experience in resource planning, team management, and developing and implementing operational processes
  • A general understanding of technology and security issues impacting privacy projects and programs
  • A genuine interest and desire to work in the privacy field
  • Awareness of ongoing and recent developments across the privacy landscape
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality, strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, flexible, able to navigate transformational growth and ambiguity, show initiative and anticipate needs, and able to focus on multiple work streams at once
  • Proficiency in MS Office - PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
