Job description

SCS Engineers is looking for a Brownfields Grant Developer who specializes in Environmental Justice to join our Environmental Services Team and contribute to our brownfield redevelopment practice. You will support local communities reinvest and redevelop areas into productive and useful properties. The primary area for our Brownfields program would be the eastern United States. You will prepare USEPA Brownfields grant applications and related statements of qualifications; assist our public and private-sector clients with navigating state and federal brownfields redevelopment and voluntary cleanup programs; oversee the implementation of USEPA assessment and cleanup grants; lead community engagement events; and deliver project management, strategic vision, and leadership related to brownfields redevelopment. We offer the flexibility of being remote or based in any SCS office in North/South Carolina, Alabama, Florida or Georgia only since you would be supporting our Southeast Business Unit primarily.

How You Can Make An Impact

You will work with a dynamic team preparing successful brownfields grant applications, implementing and completing brownfields redevelopment projects, coordinating with private developers, regulatory agencies, community leaders and other partners, and completing the reporting requirements. Typical tasks and routine activities will likely include the following:

  • Create ideas and achieve stakeholder agreement regarding anticipated outcomes for brownfields redevelopment projects and prepare successful grant applications;
  • Work with local communities to develop environmental justice strategies to help federal agencies address disproportionately high and adverse human health or environmental effects;
  • Develop proposals, work orders, perform project management responsibilities (workforce resource allocation, schedule, budgets, invoicing, progress reports, etc.) and communicate with stakeholders, regulators, and clients;
  • Enter site information into the ACRES database and manage the quarterly and annual reporting requirements for brownfields grants;
  • Prepare final closeout documents for submittal to USEPA;
  • Occasional travel may be required to meet with clients or your team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in scientific field, engineering, environmental science, or related degree required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in brownfields redevelopment, grant writing, and/or relevant environmental required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of state and federal brownfields and voluntary cleanup programs and regulations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of CERCLA due diligence requirements, including all appropriate inquiries, continuing obligations, and ASTM standards.
  • Application of Environmental Justice and National Environmental Policy Act, including Community Change Grants.
  • Record of successful brownfields grant applications.
  • Valid driver's license with a driving record in good standing required.

Pay Range

USD $85,000.00 - USD $110,000.00 /Yr.
