What You'll Do

We are seeking a Sr. Manager, Product Management - Platforms with over 12+ years of experience to lead our platforms strategy and execution. In this role, you will manage a team of product managers and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional platform solutions that drive value for our customers. You will play a crucial role in defining the product vision, strategy, and roadmap, ensuring alignment with Avalara's overall business goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Product Strategy & Vision: Define and communicate the product vision and strategy for our platform offerings, ensuring alignment with company objectives and customer needs.
  • Leadership & Team Management: Lead and mentor a team of product managers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. These products include Avatax, ECM, Business Licenses and Integrations with ERPs.
  • Market Analysis: Conduct thorough market research and competitive analysis to identify opportunities and threats in the platform space.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, design, marketing, and sales teams to drive product development, ensuring timely and successful delivery of features.
  • Customer Engagement: Engage with customers to gather feedback, understand pain points, and ensure our platform solutions meet their evolving needs.
  • Roadmap Development: Develop and maintain a prioritised product roadmap that aligns with business objectives and resource capabilities.
  • Performance Metrics: Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of platform initiatives and make data-driven decisions.
  • Agile Methodology: Champion agile practices within the product team, ensuring effective sprint planning, execution, and retrospectives.


Qualifications

  • Experience: 12+ years of experience in product management, with a focus on platform products in the SaaS industry.
  • Leadership: Proven track record of leading and developing high-performing product teams.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of software development processes, APIs, and cloud-based platforms.
  • Analytical Skills: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven mindset.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Customer Focus: Deep commitment to understanding customer needs and delivering exceptional user experiences.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Business, or Engineering); MBA preferred.
