Job Overview

We are in search of an accomplished and dedicated Director of Research Administration - Contracts and Compliance to assume a pivotal leadership role in our progressive and collaborative organization. This esteemed position will serve a critical function within the compliance framework, collaborating closely with essential stakeholders, including our Chief Operating Officer and Senior Associate Dean for Research, as well as other key central offices.

In this influential role, you will oversee both pre-award and post-award research administration, ensuring meticulous review of complex research contracts and agreements. As a recognized subject matter expert, you will interpret and analyze federal, state, and institutional policies, ensuring strict adherence to regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and interpretation of policies related to research administration to uphold compliance with all relevant requirements.
  • Monitor compliance trends and issues, swiftly identifying and escalating high-risk situations as they arise.
  • Develop and implement strategies to effectively address risks and resolve intricate contractual matters.
  • Review and analyze complex contracts, evaluating their implications on research operations, and suggesting strategies to either accept or mitigate potential risks.
  • Create and manage outreach initiatives focused on policy and compliance in research administration.
  • Collaborate with leadership to support communication efforts and facilitate the implementation of new policies.
  • Act as a representative in discussions concerning research administration with various offices.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for non-standard and complex issues, coordinating with faculty and staff.
  • Lead and cultivate a team of five staff members, offering mentorship and support for their professional development.

Required Skills

  • Extensive knowledge of regulations and processes pertaining to grants, contracts, and clinical studies.
  • Proficiency in compliance, intellectual property, and licensing issues related to research.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements concerning research data and privacy.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing complex agreements and institutional oversight.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with the ability to inspire teams across various organizational boundaries.
  • Exceptional planning, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills to cultivate professional partnerships.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree along with a minimum of ten years of pertinent experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
