Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Remote/Hybrid Senior Level Substation Design Engineer to join our esteemed client located in Syracuse, NY. This position is crucial within the Power Delivery Substation Department, where you will contribute to impactful projects while enjoying the flexibility of a hybrid work environment. You will be pivotal in fostering an atmosphere where both personal and professional growth can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

Develop comprehensive substation layout drawings, including plans and elevations, yard layouts, grounding details, raceway specifications, control building layouts, and material lists for both new and existing substations.
Create substation one-line and three-line diagrams, Aux AC Power Systems, DC Power Systems, DC Schematics, SCADA and Communications Systems, Relay Panel Layouts, Equipment Wiring, and Cable Schedules for various projects.
Conduct engineering calculations and prepare detailed reports.
Formulate equipment specifications for substation components and construction activities.

Required Skills

Extensive experience in substation projects, ranging from 15kV to 500kV, and a robust understanding of electrical distribution systems.
Proficient in substation design adhering to IEEE/ANSI standards.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with team members and clients.
Familiarity with AUTOCAD and MicroStation is advantageous.

Qualifications

A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
Professional Engineering license (PE) is strongly preferred, or the capability to sit for the exam within 6 months.
Advanced Degree is highly desirable.
EIT certification or the ability to obtain it within 6-12 months of employment.
A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in design and engineering, specifically in power distribution and/or high voltage substations.
Experience with renewable energy projects (Wind, Solar & Energy Storage) is considered a valuable asset.

Salary range: \(80k - \)120k per annum; compensation may vary based on the candidate’s skills, experience, and related knowledge.
