  • Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship Required.
  • Background Investigation Required: Juvenile Probation Criminal Check & Complete of Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) training.
  • Type of Employment: Independent Contract.
  • Estimated Pay: $250.000/Per Exam.

Summary of Services:

The Licensed Psychologist will provide professional psychological services for children ages 10-17 that are in Bexar County Juvenile Detention/Probation Centers. The psychological testing is conducted on children for the purpose of gaining insight into the child's mental health needs and is a requirement for children to be placed in a residential treatment facility.

Mandatory Qualifications

  • Doctorate Degree (either a PhD, PsyD, or EdD).
  • Current Texas State License issued by the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council.
  • Experience providing psychological testing, including testing to children, and a description of the clientele (e.g.: children in juvenile justice system, children in schools, children in foster care system, children in hospital settings, children at a mental health care agency, children via a private practice, etc.).
  • Credentials are approved by the Bexar County Juvenile Probation Center.
  • Bilingual Spanish is desired.

Testing Hours

Psychological evaluations must be conducted during hours that accommodate the children and their families and the Detention Center programming hours. This may require working unconventional hours such as late afternoons, evenings, and weekends.

Turnaround Time

Psychological evaluations must be conducted within eight (8) working days of the date the referral is received from Juvenile Probation. The completed evaluation must be submitted within five (5) working days of the date the evaluation is initiated. The total number of days from referral to submission of evaluation to Juvenile Probation must not exceed ten (10) working days.

Court Testimony

Selected Applicants must be able to effectively provide court testimony as needed concerning any child for whom the Applicant previously completed a psychological evaluation. Juvenile Probation staff will be available to assist with this process.

Testing Capabilities

A list of psychological tests the Applicant has administered and interpreted. The licensed psychologist should be able to perform a complete battery of psychological tests, including the most current version of any of the following:

  • Millon Adolescent Clinical Inventory (MACI) Test
  • Children's Depression Inventory (CDI) Test
