The Role

As the Payroll & Benefits Administrator, you’ll be the hero behind the scenes, making sure everyone gets paid accurately and on time. Here’s what you’ll be doing:

Who You Are

  • 1+ years of hands-on experience in payroll, compensation, and benefits administration across Canada and the US. You’ve seen a full year cycle and thrived! Experience with ADP Workforce Now and ADP Run a bonus.
  • Fast-Paced Dynamo: Thrives in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  • Process Innovator: Skilled in creating, documenting, and continuously improving payroll and benefits processes.
  • Educational Background: Post-secondary education in Payroll, HR, Accounting, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Bonus points if you’re enrolled in or have completed the Canadian Payroll Association Program.
  • Communication Star: Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Multitasking Maestro: Ability to juggle multiple projects or assignments simultaneously.
  • Problem-Solving Whiz: Thorough research and problem-solving skills.

What You’ll Do

Payroll

  • Prepares and processes bi-weekly payroll for our Canadian and US employees. 
  • Manages and maintains payroll records and ensures compliance with all federal and provincial/state statutory requirements (i.e. WCB, EHT quarterly filings).
  • Prepares Record of Employment (ROE’s) for employee departures.
  • Responds to payroll related inquiries from employees, management and government agencies.
  • Provides assistance to external auditors during quarterly and yearly audits.
  • Works on ad hoc continuous improvement projects.

Benefits & Total Rewards

  • Responsible for the administration of benefits and compensation programs, group insurance, and other total rewards programs and policies while assuring compliance with applicable legislation, in partnership with the P&C team. 
    • Responsible for employee benefits enrollment, inquiries and administration.
    • Provides recommendations to ensure the effectiveness of our total rewards programs and alignment to our corporate objectives.
  • Partners with the P&C and Finance teams to build and manage recurring compensation event timelines and payroll schedules, including monthly/quarterly/annual bonus payments, and annual salary/performance reviews and promotions.
  • Manages relationships with 3rd party providers for selected payroll and benefits programs to ensure service level agreements are adhered to and that we maximize the programs’ offering.
  • Supports the P&C team with job evaluation and classification system development and administration.
  • Supports the P&C team with annual market compensation and benefits survey participation.

HR Support

  • Supports with P&C administrative duties including employee verification requests, tax forms, and immigration activities.
  • Supports as needed with employee change letters and employment agreements.
  • Administers employee offboarding procedures relating to payroll and benefits withdrawal activities.
  • Updates and maintains employee information in HRIS.
  • Supports as needed with HR reports, including vacation accruals tracking and ad hoc salary/labour cost information.
  • Supports the Cymax Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committee (JOHSC) and ensure procedures and policies are compliant and encouraging the health and wellness of employees.

The pay range for this role is between $28 and $32 per hour depending on experience, skills, training and organizational needs. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level and location.
