Job Overview

As a Renewables Real Estate Attorney, you will utilize your legal expertise and commercial insight in renewable energy real estate transactions to spearhead legal matters within your purview. You will collaborate closely with diverse teams such as Project Development, Finance, EPC, O&M, and Transmission & Interconnection, ensuring all legal aspects related to real estate and land development are meticulously addressed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a subject matter authority in lease negotiations, land options, purchase agreements, easements, and site control agreements for utility-scale renewable projects.
  • Draft, revise, and negotiate all legal land agreements associated with solar, wind, and energy storage initiatives.
  • Assist the Real Estate team with comprehensive title, survey, and mineral due diligence processes, including investigating land use requirements.
  • Oversee the financial closing of renewable land development purchase and lease transactions.
  • Engage with external and internal stakeholders, including outside legal counsel, in the land acquisition process and related project financing efforts.

Required Skills

  • Proficient in legal matters concerning renewable energy real estate transactions.
  • Strong understanding of land title issues, mineral rights, and project development permitting processes.
  • Demonstrated experience in drafting and reviewing various real estate documentation, including purchase/sale agreements, lease agreements, and easements.
  • Solid background in land negotiations and commercial real estate transactions.
  • Expertise in site leases, purchase options, land permitting, and financial closings linked to real estate and M&A transactions.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3 years of legal experience in substantial infrastructure land development real estate transactions, preferably as a licensed attorney within a company engaged in grid-connected utility-scale renewables. Experience with a notable law firm is highly favored.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law institution.
