We are looking for a Senior Financial Accountant to join our Finance Team! In this role, you'll drive the month-end and year-end financial close, prepare accurate financial reports for the company and board, and ensure accuracy and efficiency in all accounting tasks. You'll take charge of the annual financial audit, and assist in the corporate tax return preparation. Additionally, you’ll help improve reporting systems, and apply your accounting expertise to business activities. What You Will Do:
  • Drive our month-end and year-end close, reporting, and other month-end tasks as necessary
  • Analyze financial performance against budget and forecast using a strong understanding of our financial statements, drivers, cash flow, and profits
  • Assist with Employee Shares & Options and Corporate Taxes
  • Drive the annual financial audit and assist with reconciliation of ASPE to US GAAP
  • Apply accounting principles to business activity 
  • Provide support to the Team Lead and VP of Finance in preparing investor and lender reporting, dashboards, annual budgets, and forecasting to enable decision-making
  • Ensure a high level of integrity around financial statements and understanding high-risk areas (i.e. revenue recognition, bonus calculations, etc)
  • Contribute to enhanced process improvement and technology recommendations to promote efficiencies
  • Be a superuser/administrator of our accounting/finance systems and tools (i.e. Sage Intacct and Shareworks)
  • Guide/mentor our junior accountants within the team to share best practices and advice
  • Support our anti-racism and diversity, equity & inclusion (ADEI) mandate by (at a minimum) being aware of our ADEI commitment and initiatives, and completing all required ADEI trainings

  • Minimum 3-5 years accounting experience
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a senior accounting role
  • CPA Designation
  • Advanced knowledge of main accounting principles (ASPE & US GAAP)
  • Ability to complete tasks with high accuracy by the deadline
  • Ability to handle confidential data with a high degree of professionalism
  • Self-starter with high initiative and ownership
  • High attention to detail

  • Experience with multi-ledger accounting systems
  • Experience with Shareworks and other relevant software 
  • Experience in SaaS
