Team Overview:
The Technical Project Management team is responsible for the success of our projects across SOE. The projects our team manages cover a wide range in scale and complexity, ensuring that there is rarely a dull moment. On projects we organize stakeholders and our teams for success, forecast project performance, work with technical experts in and outside of our company to build the right solution, and foster a community of learning and growth for our employees!
Job Overview:
As a Senior Technical Project Manager you will be working alongside a highly motivated and hard working engineering team to untangle the complex web of customer needs, company resources, and the laws of physics. You could be working on next generation spacecraft, technology on the forefront of green energy, best in class consumer products, or any of our other high impact projects. Alongside customer work, our senior TPMs also contribute to and influence our internal infrastructure development as our team grows!
What You Will Do:
- Work with clients on the cutting edge of technology development
- Lead teams to build the right thing in a wide variety of industries such as aerospace, automotive, renewable energy, medical devices, and more
- Drive client and internal communication, including difficult conversations on scope, timeline and budget
- Manage team morale, stress and time in order to maintain a healthy project culture and client relationship
- Forecast project performance and plan around identified risks
- Manage and track project budget, resourcing, and schedule across multiple teams and projects
- Drive the creation of project budgets, work breakdowns, rough-order estimates, task prioritization, and integration plans
- Assist in screening of candidates and contractors
- Participate in the development of internal PM tools, policies and best practices
What You Will Need:
- Bachelor's degree (Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Math, Management, Business, or related fields)
- 5-7+ years experience working as a technical project manager in a related field
- Familiarity with the labor breakdown and execution of engineering projects and project planning
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills on technical topics
- Ability to identify project risk, scope creep, and missing critical requirements
- High level of organization and responsiveness
- Familiarity with project management tools, such as Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, Jira, Confluence, etc.
What Would Be Useful:
- Direct experience in technical engineering project management
- Familiarity with formal project accounting and reporting
- Experience in 1 or more of the following:
- Electrical engineering design work and knowledge of embedded systems, firmware, power electronics, analog control, and/or discrete logic design
- Mechanical systems and packaging for aerospace, automotive, and/or consumer electronics products
- Quality management systems and practices, such as AS9100 or ISO
- Test systems and/or qualification testing for aerospace, automotive, and/or medical projects
- Software development flows and frameworks and core concepts of common programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, etc.)
