The salary range for this job posting is $84,628.00 - $135,405.00 annually + bonus + benefits

Encova Insurance has an opening for a Senior Commercial Lines Product Analyst. This role will have the option to work home-based but you must reside within a state where we are licensed for payroll as shown on our careers page.

Reports to the VP Commercial Underwriting Office - Package Lines.

JOB OBJECTIVE:

Oversees the performance of the commercial portfolio developing insights and recommendations to drive profitable growth at the line, industry and market segment  levels.  Extracts and analyzes data to determine profit and loss drivers and identify growth opportunities.  This includes analysis of line of business and industry performance at the market segment and state level.  Leverages their industry insight and analysis to develop and measure action plans that drive profit and growth in partnership with the industry segment and product management teams as well as the field facing leadership teams.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Thorough assessment of profitability, product profile and growth by different rating and underwriting variables to identify loss and profit drivers and market opportunities leveraging industry knowledge and commercial lines expertise
  • Establish a systemic approach to line of business and industry analysis that consistently feeds key observations to segment and line of business management teams on a regular basis
  • Create recommendations to address loss drivers and growth opportunities and partner with other departments on implementation.
  • Measure execution of key initiatives through phases of implementation and reports out on status to CL senior leadership
  • Develop comprehensive and well written proposals that will be reviewed by peers and upper management.  Present the proposals to stakeholders.
  • Works closely with product analytics and actuarial to develop and share observations while promoting an effective partnership that reduces duplication of effort
  • Use Excel to: build pivot tables to identify, summarize and visualize data; use formulas to analyze and manipulate the data; create cross tabulations; build charts to pictorially summarize analyses.
  • Utilize tools like Tableau, SAS or other database query tools to supplement information received from product analytics
  • Use analysis tools within Excel and SAS to perform rigorous analyses and develop sound recommendations.
  • Develop communications of market changes, line of business trends, industry trends and other pertinent information to affected departments.

OTHER FUNCTIONS: 

  • Participate in ad-hoc committees to conclusion, developing and presenting proposals to management. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Bachelor’s degree or professional level of knowledge in a technical and analytical field, or equivalent, related experience. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of Commercial Lines multi-line experience
  • Previous Product Management experience is preferred. 
  • Attention to detail with ability to manage multiple tasks/priorities while working in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision. 
  • Flexibility to handle assignments in various states of completion at the same time. 
  • Knowledge of actuarial and pricing concepts. 
  • Project management skills. 
  • Superior communication skills (verbal and written) along with strong presentation skills. 
  • Strong mathematical aptitude and analytical skills. 
  • Quantitative analysis and critical thinking skills. 
  • Advanced experience using Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access. 
  • Working knowledge of Tableau, SAS and/or other data analysis tools. 
  • Proven experience leading cross functional teams to make critical product and pricing decisions for assigned states/lines of business. 
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and determine the correct course of action. 
  • Insurance designation(s) such as CPCU, ARM, AU, etc. or progress towards is preferred.
