THE OPPORTUNITY

Reporting to the Senior Manager, this role oversees quarterly client processes and maintains strong relationships with internal stakeholders. The individual excels in communication, project management, organization, and time management, with experience managing complex environments, facilitating diverse stakeholders, and resolving conflicts. Seamless quarterly client engagement is ensured by coordinating with BCI asset teams and translating complex investment concepts into clear, concise reports. Efficiently managing ad-hoc client and internal requests, tasks are prioritized, responsibilities delegated, and progress tracked to meet deadlines. A deep understanding of investment concepts, performance measurement, and risk measures is essential for effective client deliverables and reporting.

The successful candidate collaborates with internal departments to access data, develop content, optimize delivery channels, and streamline processes. They manage multiple inputs across teams, providing support to the Senior Manager as needed. Strong editing and communication skills are vital for editing client communication materials for consistency, clarity, and quality. In addition to solid investment knowledge, a creative and collaborative approach to client engagement is required, working effectively with various stakeholders. This role demands a unique combination of investment expertise and adaptability in problem-solving within undefined processes.

Responsibilities also include people management, mentoring, and leading a team. They will foster a positive and inclusive work environment and will be instrumental in developing team capabilities, conducting performance reviews, and implementing training programs to enhance skills and knowledge.

THE DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

The Corporate & Investor Relations (CIR) department plays a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing relationships between BCI and its various stakeholders, including clients, external partners, and colleagues. To achieve this, the department has two core functions: Client Partnerships and Corporate Stakeholder Engagement.

Client Partnerships involve working closely with clients to understand their needs and expectations, ensuring that BCI delivers value and meets their investment objectives. This includes regular communication, tailored solutions, and a commitment to transparency and trust.

Corporate Stakeholder Engagement encompasses the management of relationships with all other stakeholder groups, including industry peers, regulators, government bodies, and the wider public. This involves proactive communication, advocacy, and collaboration to promote BCI's interests and its brand and uphold its reputation.

This position resides within the Client Partnerships team.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
  • A Bachelor's degree in Economics, Business, Finance, or a related field from an accredited university

  • At least 2 years of experience leading projects, with a project management certification (PMP or CAPM) considered a significant advantage

  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in an institutional financial services setting, preferably within the asset management industry

  • Proven ability to communicate effectively and negotiate with a diverse group of stakeholders while managing tight deadlines

  • Strong proficiency in MS Office suite, including advanced Excel, PowerPoint, and Word skills

  • Experience with investment management software and tools is a plus

  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously

  • Proficiency in data analysis using excel, SQL and associated charting an asset

  • Holding the CFA Charter or equivalent is highly desirable

WHAT YOU WILL DO
General:
  • Be accountable for operational deliverables, including quarterly reporting, workflow management, and cross-team coordination

  • Manage a detailed report production schedule, anticipating challenges and collaboratively working with internal stakeholders to resolve them

  • Efficiently manage ad-hoc client and internal requests, ensuring timely and effective responses by prioritizing tasks, delegating responsibilities, and tracking progress to meet deadlines.

  • Establish standards and procedures for streamlined processes

  • Triage and delegate internal and client requests

  • Review the work of the team to ensure high quality standards are met

  • Represent the team in internal engagements

  • Mentor direct reports

Reporting and Communication:
  • Review and edit investment reporting commentary from across BCI. Collaboratively seek clarifications where needed from asset teams

  • Assess reports for improvement opportunities and accuracy

  • Craft an easily digestible quarterly reporting summary that incorporates portfolio performance, market trends, and risk factors

  • Develop and maintain clear and concise reporting style guides

Operational Deliverables:
  • In addition to delegating and reviewing, respond to ad-hoc requests, anticipating stakeholder needs and proactively addressing root concerns

  • Develop solutions for data-related business requests, including self-serve tools and expanding the use of existing resources

  • Collaborate with other CIR teams and internal departments to ensure efficient production and sharing of high-quality reporting content for clients

SALARY RANGE

BCI offers a competitive total rewards package which includes a performance-based incentive plan, comprehensive health & dental benefits, a defined benefit pension plan and paid time off.

The annualized base salary range for this role is CAD $120,000 to $140,000.

The base salary offered to the successful candidate will consider a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill set, level of experience applicable to the role they are being offered and consideration to internal equity.

We pay our people competitively in the markets in which we compete for talent and with consideration to internal equity and job structure. We aim for actual pay to be around the median of the market for target or expected levels of performance, and around the upper quartile of the market for excellent performance.

Actual salaries may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors, including, but not limited to, experience and expertise.
