Job description

We are looking for a Sr. Director, Global Operations Head, General Medicine to join our A-team (hybrid*/remote). As a Sr. Director, Global Operations Head at Allucent, you are responsible for overseeing the General Medicine operational project teams, asset portfolios, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement of processes within the Clinical Trial Operations (CTO) department. This position controls and monitors the quality and full-service delivery of clinical trial project management activities, all with the sense of urgency expected by Allucent customers.

In this role your key tasks will include:

Strategic Leadership

  • Lead and expand the General Medicine therapeutic area, focusing on Allergy, Respiratory, Infectious Disease, Vaccine, Immunology, and Internal Medicine
  • Serve as member of the Project Leadership Leaership Team contributing to overall strategic management
  • Assess and communicate the therapeutic pipeline and landscape through development and actioning of an annual business plan

Operational Leadership

  • Responsible and accountable for the effective and successful delivery of the global General Medicine portfolio
  • Monitor and manage operational performance to meet or exceed business objectives

Client Engagement and Relationship Management

  • Operate within the established escalation pathway, working to resolve issues with the project director and project team, as needed
  • When needed, act as the executive sponsor for projects or portfolios
  • Foster strong relationships with clients and stakeholders
  • Represent Global Project Leadership in client-facing interactions and negotiations

Business Development

  • Partner with BD in the development and procurement of new business
  • Is the key PL professional responsible for developing proposal strategy and responding to RFIs, as well as attending relevant bid defenses and securing wins
  • Represent Allucent at therapeutic business events/conferences
  • Ensure good communication and relationships with current and future clients
  • Identify client needs and new business opportunities
  • Translate protocol requirements into a clear operational strategy for client engagements
  • Review and approve content and costing of proposals
  • Translate guidelines, rules, and regulations into clear and usable recommendations
  • Identify resources for proposals and bid defenses
  • Accountable for maintaining the resource tool to provide full insight into the availability of the team
  • Network with local and national agencies for future project development in cooperation with other departments

Team Leadership and Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing global General Medicine project management and project oversight team
  • Line manage team members, as appropriate
  • Promote and demonstrate a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence
  • Ensure continuous professional development and growth opportunities for team members
  • Plan and execute therapeutically-aligned training and development
  • For aligned projects, provide ongoing consultancy, coaching, and feedback to colleagues involved in delivery to improve the overall understanding of the client and ability to deliver to the expectations of the client
  • Lead by example and encourages team members to develop strong solutions for clinical trial delivery
  • Responsible for supervision of departmental and project staff, along with functional communication, including performance feedback
  • Support the recruitment, interviewing, and onboarding of new staff
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and insight into general business principles and practices, and be able to balance business priorities
  • Demonstrate a growth mindset, and approach complex challenges with creativity and flexibility
  • Identify, lead, and participate in initiatives to support process and service delivery improvements with the CTO department and across the Allucent business
  • Maintain a current understanding of industry trends and landscape

Other

  • Directly support CTO Global Project Management sub-department leadership, including responsibilities involving global business and departmental process, as well as initiative ownership
  • Contribute to other areas of the Allucent business, as required
  • Business travel is required for this position, including possible international travel (approximately 25%)

Requirements

To be successful you will possess:

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role within the clinical trials/drug development industry
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in life science, healthcare, and/or business. Master’s degree or PhD preferred
  • A minimum of 15 years of clinical research experience, including 12 years total of clinical project management experience as both a Project Lead/Project Manager and Line Manager
  • A minimum of 8 years of clinical operations and/or project management experience in General Medicine clinical research; therapies included are immunology, internal medicine (gastroenterology, hepatology, cardiology, etc.), allergy, respiratory, infectious disease, vaccine
  • Able to travel domestically and internationally at approximately 25%
  • Expert knowledge of ICH-GCP(R2), data and patient privacy practices, and applicable (local) regulatory requirements
  • Financial and business acumen, administrative excellence, and analytical skills
  • Strong experience managing all phases of the global, full-service clinical trial delivery lifecycle
  • Strong background in leading, managing, inspiring, and growing large teams
  • Expertise in Project Leadership and Client Relations
  • Exceptional client management and communication abilities
  • Strategic and thought leadership experience in General Medicine
  • Demonstrated ability to create, lead, and influence successful collaborations, and to navigate and address challenging dynamics on a global cross-functional team
  • Sound understanding of clinical development
  • Demonstrated inclusive leadership
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, planning, critical thinking, and organizational skills, including strong command of English language
  • Proficiency with various applications including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
