Join a prominent leader in the renewable energy sector, specializing in the development and execution of cutting-edge utility-scale energy storage projects. This organization, with an impressive portfolio exceeding 9GW of projects, is on a robust expansion trajectory with a firm commitment to enhancing renewable infrastructure.

As a Renewables Real Estate Attorney, you will apply your commercial insight and proficiency in renewable energy real estate transactions to spearhead legal matters within your domain. Collaborating with diverse teams such as Project Development, Finance, EPC, O&M, and Transmission & Interconnection, you will address all legal considerations pertinent to real estate and land development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a subject matter expert in lease negotiations, land options, purchase agreements, easements, and site control agreements for utility-scale renewable projects.
  • Draft, modify, and negotiate all legal land agreements related to solar, wind, and energy storage initiatives.
  • Assist the Real Estate team with comprehensive title, survey, and mineral due diligence processes, including investigation of land use requirements.
  • Manage the financial closing of renewable land development real estate transactions.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including outside counsel, throughout the land acquisition process and related project financing efforts.

Required Skills

  • Expertise in lease negotiations and real estate agreements for large-scale renewable projects.
  • Strong understanding of land title issues, mineral rights, and project development permitting processes.
  • Proven experience in drafting and reviewing real estate documentation, including purchase/sale agreements and lease terms.
  • Solid background in land negotiations and commercial real estate transactions.
  • Familiarity with the utility-scale renewables origination and development process, encompassing interconnection, permitting, and PPA negotiations.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of legal experience in large infrastructure land development real estate transactions, ideally as a licensed attorney within a company focused on grid-connected utility-scale renewables. Experience with a reputable law firm is preferred.
  • A Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school is required.

Career Growth Opportunities

The organization is committed to fostering the professional growth of its employees, offering ample opportunities for personal and professional advancement within a rapidly evolving industry.
