Job Description

One of our clients is seeking a Virtualization Administrator to manage and maintain their IT virtual environment, including the setup, deployment, and maintenance of network, server, and storage infrastructure utilizing VMware products. This role involves ensuring system security, compliance, troubleshooting, establishing backup and recovery protocols, and maintaining documentation. The Virtualization Administrator will also support Tier 1 and Tier 2 Helpdesk teams by assisting with end-user support, troubleshooting network issues, managing PC maintenance and configurations, and other related tasks.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement Infrastructure: Responsible for setting up virtual storage, hardware, servers, and virtual machines within a VMware vSphere environment. Duties include configuring systems for production, managing user accounts, access controls, and security settings.
  • Perform Maintenance: Monitor systems daily to identify problem areas, perform regular software maintenance, and proactively implement upgrades, patches, and updates for drivers, servers, and firmware as needed.
  • Provide Technical Support: Participate in the on-call rotation to provide prompt technical support, conduct root cause analysis, and perform thorough testing scenarios to resolve issues.
  • Recommend Solutions: Work closely with IT management to plan and enhance infrastructure. This involves gathering system data, researching solutions, presenting design ideas, and evaluating industry trends and best practices.
  • Create Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation for all system processes and procedures, including project requirements, upgrades, implementation plans, and support tickets. Create summary reports for internal management.

Mandatory Qualifications:

  • Must reside in Kentucky or be willing to relocate upon job acceptance.
  • Hands-on experience with VMware or Nutanix virtualization platforms.
  • Experience in performing at least one server migration between data centers, preferably from VMware to Azure Cloud.
  • Proven experience managing the Office 365 suite and overseeing Azure environments.
  • Experience with networking devices such as routers and firewalls.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation with languages like PowerShell or Python.
  • Certifications in Azure (e.g., Azure Administrator, Azure Solutions Architect).
  • VMware certifications.
  • Experience in desktop support for end users.


MUST HAVE:

  • Reside in Kentucky or be willing to relocate upon job acceptance.
  • Hands-on experience with VMware or Nutanix.
  • Experience with server migrations between data centers, ideally transitioning from VMware to Azure Cloud.
  • Office 365 suite management experience.
  • Experience overseeing Azure environments.
  • Familiarity with networking devices like routers and firewalls.
