To complete our installation team in North Europe we look for a home based field engineer in the UK. You are an enthusiastic, motivated and determined individual, looking for an individual contributor role in the high-tech Cancer care environment. In this challenging role, you will be responsible for on-site installation and upgrades of medical linear accelerators and associated equipment. You will have the opportunity to travel to many different countries in the European area for several weeks at a time, whilst being responsible for your own working timetable and providing customers the exceptional level of service that they expect from Varian.
After receiving world-class training you will be trusted with the installation, testing and handover of multi-million dollar machines  and associated equipment that will be used in our relentless fight against cancer.

Responsibilities ​

  • Install and upgrade Varian products.

  • Troubleshoot and manage technical issues and support your teammates solve their issues.

  • Carry out customer acceptance tests and train customers in basic operation of the Varian products.

  • Attend assigned Varian product trainings and maintain a high degree of professional knowledge.

  • Report regularly using the Varian reporting tools.

  • Independent planning and booking of business trips as well as the settlement of travel expenses.

  • Willingness for extensive travel (70% / Duration of each trip: approx. 2-4 weeks). Mainly within UK and Europe, once in a while globally.

Desired Qualifications

  • Graduate of Technical Institute or University in electronics, biomedical engineering or equivalent.

  • Work experience in a customer facing position is a plus. 

  • Strong system level understanding and troubleshooting skills.

  • Sound knowledge of processes and methods to use electronic testing equipment.

  • Strong computer skills with an understanding of IT networks.

  • Able to work independently as well as a part of a team.

  • Dedicated, pragmatic and result-oriented approach and the ability to deal with ambiguity.

  • Fluency in English, written and spoken, additional languages are an asset.
