JOB SUMMARY

The Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) Educator/Analyst is a CDI professional with a broad clinical knowledge base and advanced understanding of DRG documentation requirements who works in collaboration with the Second Level Reviewer and CDI Team Lead as a part of the system CDI Leadership Team. This individual is responsible for providing education, support and mentoring at the system level including, but not limited to: Orientation and mentoring of new Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialists, Ongoing communication and education to CDI staff, inpatient coders, and providers regarding documentation opportunities for diagnosis clarification, coding and reimbursement issues and performance improvement methodologies, Assists in the development of CDI reports and  collaborating with Health Information Management (HIM), Facility coding, Case Management departments to assure documentation is clinically appropriate.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.

Minimum Required:   

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing OR

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Health Information Management

Preferred/Optional: None

EXPERIENCE 

Minimum Required:  

  • Five years' Clinical Documentation Integrity experience

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Demonstrated broad clinical knowledge base necessary to review a wide variety of medical records

  • Demonstrated positive communication skills

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES 

The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.

Minimum Required:  

  • Current state Registered Nurse license OR

  • Active credentials through AHIMA (RHIA)

Preferred/Optional: None

  • Active credential through ACDIS  (Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) OR

  • Active credentials through AHIMA (CCS)

Wisconsin residents only eligible to apply

Primarily remote with occasional onsite work approximately 4-6 times per year
