Job description

Summary

The Project Manager is responsible for establishing and executing all aspects of the project management function for large scale, complex business and technology solutions in the project portfolio.   The Project Manager role will effectively manage and deliver solutions that involve a combination of the following attributes: project investment that is less than $5 million, multiple project teams, multiple technology disciplines, global or multiple region geographic delivery, geographically disbursed project teams, and/or a high-level technical complexity.  The Project Manager function includes, but is not limited to: Project Leadership, Planning & Administration, Execution Integration, Resource Management, Project level decision making and Financial Management.   This position must have proven prior experience working in waterfall and agile delivery environments.  It is expected that the result of this position will be the delivery of an efficient and effective solution or series of solutions resulting in a competitive advantage for the company. A project is defined as a solution-delivery effort that has clear start and end dates and defined success criteria in terms of quality and cost.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  1. The ability to effectively and concisely communicate with the executive team members, project team members, project sponsors, and project stakeholders.
  2. Establish ongoing communication with the project teams to ensure everyone never loses sight of what the project is intended to deliver, its importance to the client, and that project team members can clearly articulate both the mission and desired outcomes. 
  3. Take ownership/responsibility for finding solutions to problems, not only those items specifically within their area, but holds project team members capable and accountable to do the same in their respective areas.
  4. The ability to take a forward-looking or proactive view on program/project direction, anticipate possible opportunities to accelerate the project through a different path or approach, and proactively access risk to prevent negative impact the program.
  5. The ability to effectively facilitate and/or mediate conflict, issues or compliance to govern rules at and across all levels of the project delivery structure, ensuring team productivity by fostering creativity, empowerment, and accountability with in the team.
  6. Establish a project management approach best suited for the size, complexity, and scope of the project.
  7. Establish the Project Charter in collaboration with the Executive and Project Sponsors to make sure project scope, objectives, authorized budget and business value are clearly stated to be guiding elements for a project team as they execute and successfully deliver the project.
  8. Define and deploy a project governance structure for regular project reviews, project decision making and major project impacting events that require executive-level escalation.
  9. Ensure a project team is clearly defined (internal/external resources) and a project team organization chart with defined delivery roles and responsibilities and reporting structures is created and maintained throughout the duration of a project.  
  10. Create and maintain a detailed execution project plan complete with project task dependencies, critical path, major deliverables, and delivery milestones that are used to manage the effective execution of the project. 
  11. Administer robust risk, issue, and change management processes and logs that clearly define the problem statement, impact (including but not limited to impacts to schedule, cost, and quality). 
  12. Keep risk, issue, and change logs current (updated at-least bi-weekly).
  13. Hold a project retrospective (lesson learned) at the end of each project, document in project closure report, and practice continuous improvement in future projects.    
  14. Create and deliver an effective project kick-off meeting to ensure all project resources, supporting resources not directly assigned to the project, project sponsors, and supporting business resources are aligned on the project charter, key project management processes and tools, sponsor expectations, deliverables, baseline business metrics to be measured post-delivery, and delivery schedule.   The launch meeting is the first major execution integration activity of a project.
  15. Conduct regular project meetings with teams within the project to ensure integration points and cross project dependencies remain aligned according to the master project plan. These meetings will also ensure that all forthcoming major deliverables are being reviewed and approved according to deliverable processing guidelines. 
  16. Provide oversight and input to project plan realignment options for project delivery teams should project delays or issue in one or more teams negatively impact the over master schedule.  
  17. Conduct impact assessments (Financial and schedule) on any options identified to address unavoidable or sponsor requested changes to the master schedule and then present them for consideration and disposition.
  18. Orchestrate any approved master schedule changes throughout the project to ensure that the financial impact and impact to project momentum forward is minimized.
  19. Ensure the project’s time reporting system tasks are appropriately classified in the project plan.
  20. Ensure that all project delivery resources are properly trained on how to record their time on a weekly basis, and that they are doing so to ensure appropriate financial accounting.
  21. Maintain financial control of the project by working to keep the project within budget. Whenever the project scope changes, take the necessary actions to define impact to budget and to get approvals if a budget increase is needed.
  22. Review time reporting system to ensure project team members are accurately tracking their time.

 

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements 

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
  1. Minimum 3 – 8 years of continuous experience in a project management role
  2. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred
  3. Certified Scrum Master (CSM) certification preferred
  1. Proficient with: MS Office, especially Excel and MS Project for compiling executive-level dashboards and reports
  2. Experience with Jira and Confluence preferred
  3. Understanding of finance/accounting, particularly with balancing accounts and ledgers preferred

The annual salary for this role is currently $110,000.00-$125,000.00. The Company’s salary ranges are determined by role, level, location and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of various factors, including job-related skills, relevant education and experience, abilities of the applicant and equity with other team members.  The hourly base salary range listed here is subject to change at any time, at the Company’s discretion, and does not alter in any way the at-will nature of the employment relationship.
