About the Opportunity
A successful candidate will work with a security focus to perform required security updates and hardening to Linux Operating Systems. A successful candidate will have a broad range of technical skills and experience in the areas of Linux systems (particularly expertise in Security), strong teamwork, communications, and project management skills
The Candidate will independently design, test, implement, troubleshoot and maintain infrastructure architectures to include hardware platforms, client applications, server services and Linux operating systems; Provide enterprise level support for hardware and Linux OS related issues; Evaluate, test and make recommendations on new/upgrades to hardware, OS, network and applications and their impact on existing system configurations; Document standards, implementation procedures and troubleshooting processes. Must be available to work 24x7 support rotation, which includes fielding trouble tickets. Must have good communication skills and enjoy working in a team environment.
Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Perform required security updates to Linux Operating Systems
- Perform security hardening of the Linux OS, while documenting processes
- Collaborate with Enterprise Security to ensure solutions are aligned to company standards
- Develop and implement business solutions and/or automation using Shell, Perl, Ansible automation
- Provide specialized enterprise level support and management for Linux/Windows Infrastructure, DNS, NIS/IDM, NFS, SAMBA, and Dell server hardware
- Build/Install, support and maintain physical and virtual servers. Troubleshoot server and hardware issues and escalate as necessary
- Provide monitoring and planning for growth and capacity
- Ensure that production systems are backed up and protected
- Document infrastructure standards and processes, implementation procedures and troubleshooting processes
- Integrate new technologies to solve business requirements
- Collaborate with internal and external teams to ensure engineered solutions are aligned to company standards
- Participate in a 24x7 support rotation, which includes fielding trouble tickets
- Experience/ Competencies
- 5+ years’ experience with Linux Server Operation Systems
- 2+ years’ experience with VMware or another Hypervisor
- Experience with a large-scale, multi-platform environment (500+ machines in multiples sites)
- Proficient use of endpoint lifecycle and patch management tools and solutions
- Solid understanding of Linux security fundamentals
- Deep understanding of DNS, NIS/IDM, NFS, SAMBA
- Experienced leader and ability to influence in one or more projects or disciplinary areas
- Ability to make decisions on non-routine matters within broadly defined policies and procedures
- Demonstrated writing, verbal, and presentation skills
- Able to plan and execute complex projects with capability for complex analysis
- Extremely proficient with two or more IT disciplines
- Experience with project management on IT infrastructure projects
Experience with the following is a plus:
- Amazon Web Services, Azure or other cloud technology
- F5 or another load balancer
- Cloud backup solutions
- Experience with EMC and/or NetApp Enterprise Storage
