Job description

Bladder Cancer Canada (BCC) is the first and only national patient advocacy organization dedicated to the over 80,000 Canadians living with bladder cancer. Our mission is three-fold: to provide support to patients and their loved ones, increase awareness, and fund research that promotes the diagnosis, treatment and elimination of bladder cancer.  

 

Role: Reporting to the National Development Manager, the Fundraising Coordinator will play a critical role in the success of Canada Walks for Bladder Cancer and other fundraising campaigns through the planning and coordination of fundraising deliverables and day-of event execution.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • In collaboration with BCC staff, create and execute strategies to achieve objectives set for fundraising initiatives. 
  • Collaborate with the National Development Manager to plan and execute Walk activities including obtaining required permits and licenses, vendor coordination, and other activities as required 
  • Initiate, develop, and grow relationships with local businesses and community members to increase visibility, participation, and fundraising for BCC 
  • Generate additional revenue through national and local sponsorships for the Walk and other BCC programs. 
  • Collaborate with the National Development Manager and Communications Coordinator to actively promote and grow the Walk. 
  • Oversee and supervise all aspects of the event day (must be on-site in Toronto). 
  • Attend and participate in monthly Walk Leads meetings, occurring outside of regular working hours. 
  • Provide weekly progress reports to the National Development Manager. 
  • Enter donation data and produce regular donation reports, statistics, and charts as requested. 
  • Maintain donor and participant information in databases including DonorPerfect Online and TeamRaiser. 
  • Act as a liaison between BCC, Walk volunteers, and community members.  
  • Steward prospects, donors, and volunteers appropriately as needed. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

 

Qualifications and Requirements  

  • Availability on September 21st & 22nd to attend the event. 
  • Education or experience in fundraising and event planning is required; experience in project management is an asset.  
  • Experience in securing sponsors is a strong asset. 
  • Superior communication, time management and organization skills, a strong attention to detail, and a willingness to learn, take initiative and problem solve. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, cloud-based applications, and CRM databases.  
  • Ability to maintain sensitive information, exhibit tact, diplomacy, and good judgment, with high standards of ethics and confidentiality.  

 

Note: A police background check must be completed as a condition of employment.  

 

Location: 

This position will be based out of your home office in downtown Toronto, though occasional travel around the city will be required 

 

Compensation and hours:  

10-week contract, full-time position of 37.5 hours per week at an hourly rate of $21 per hour, beginning August 19, 2024 and ending October 31, 2024. Work is expected to be completed during standard business hours (9:00am ET to 5:00pm ET); however, occasional evenings and weekends will be required. You must be able to attend the Toronto Walk on the weekend of September 21st and 22nd.
