Battery Engineer - Assembly (21700 Cell Specialist)

Summary

Forge Nano Inc., a fast-growing nano-technology company with a focus on precision, commercial-scale ALD nano-coatings across a wide range of markets is seeking an experienced and high-energy Product Marketing Manager. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Battery Engineer specializing in Assembly processes, particularly with expertise in 21700 cylindrical cells. As a key member of our advanced manufacturing team, you will play a crucial role in developing, optimizing, and overseeing the Winding and assembly process to ensure the production of high-quality batteries.

Skills and Responsibilities

The Battery Engineer - Assembly will be responsible for tasks and skills such as (non-exhaustive):

Production Process Development: Lead the development and optimization of winding and assembly processes for battery cells, with a focus on enhancing efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.

Equipment Selection and Integration: Collaborate with equipment suppliers to identify, procure, and integrate winding and assembly machinery suitable for manufacturing cylindrical battery cells. This includes selecting automation technologies and implementing ASRS systems where applicable.

Process Enhancement: Continuously refine and improve winding and assembly processes through data analysis, experimentation, and process optimization, aiming to elevate battery performance and reliability.

Quality Control: Establish rigorous quality control protocols to monitor and uphold consistent standards throughout the winding and assembly process, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.

Problem Solving: Identify and address issues related to winding and assembly processes, equipment functionality, and material selection. Work closely with cross-functional teams to implement corrective actions and prevent recurrence.

Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of winding and assembly parameters, equipment configurations, and experimental outcomes. Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.

Training and Development: Provide training and guidance to production personnel on proper winding and assembly techniques, equipment operation, and safety protocols. Foster a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing within the team.

Research and Innovation: Stay abreast of emerging trends and advancements in battery technology, winding techniques, and assembly methodologies. Explore innovative approaches to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of winding and assembly processes.

By excelling in these areas, you will contribute to the success of our battery manufacturing operations, driving innovation and maintaining high standards of quality and performance.

Required Experience and Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in battery processes, with specific expertise in 21700 cylindrical cells.

• Strong understanding of electrochemistry, cell assembly, and battery manufacturing processes.

• Proficiency in data analysis tools and statistical methods for process optimization.

• Hands-on experience with cylindrical cell equipment, including Vacuum dryers, winders, cell Assembly, and other specialized machinery.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues independently.

• Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across interdisciplinary teams.

• Familiarity with regulatory standards and quality management systems in battery manufacturing.

Preference may be given to candidates residing in the Raleigh-Durham, NC area.

Work Environment

Work will predominately be in an office or work-from-home environment. The employee will be required to wear all appropriate safety equipment including but not limited to eye protection, gloves, steel toe shoes, lab coat, and in the plant, a hard hat when in the manufacturing facility. Strict adherence to corporate and/or plant policies, rules and regulations in these areas is required. Compensation and Benefits

• $90,000-100,000 depending on experience
