Job description


This role is responsible for managing high-volume, multi-entity invoice processing with accurate coding in accordance with GAAP and company policies. This is a remote opportunity with preference for candidates in Birmingham, Alabama.

Essential Job Responsibilities Include:

  • High-Volume, Multi-Entity Accounts Payable Invoice entry and coding interpretation; ensure timely and accurate processing
  • Ensure accounting transactions are properly recorded in accordance with GAAP and company policies
  • Prepare weekly AP ACH and Wire payments 
  • Prepare weekly employee expense reimbursement payments as needed
  • Prepare company check runs in accordance with department schedule and print checks for distribution 
  • Cross Train in other departmental tasks such as employee expense reports, corporate credit cards, and gift cards
  • Record and process prepaid expenses and prepare monthly reporting and reconciliations
  • Address requests from vendors and RxBenefits internal customers / departments ensuring requests handled timely and accurately
  • Work independently assigned JIRA tickets or escalate appropriately
  • Manage vendor set up and maintenance to ensure accurate 1099 compliance and reporting
  • Act as Purchase Requisition Administrator: Perform AP Review of new Purchase Requisitions offering final approval after confirming all required documents and approvals have been received; troubleshoot workflow issues and answer any questions timely.
  • Participate in bi-weekly AP team meetings; bi-weekly departmental meetings
  • Perform other accounting, financial, or administrative tasks as required from time to time by Management
  • Prepare documentation and assist with the annual external financial statement audit
  • Work independently on assigned financial close activities such as account reconciliations or AP accruals; prepare and review account analyses; identify, document and resolve unusual items and issues in a timely manner
  • Update all process guides for assigned tasks and offer feedback for process improvements when appropriate

Required Skills / Experience:

  • Accounting B.S. degree 
  • 3+ years’ experience in an accounting role with 1-2 years' experience performing AP accruals
  • Demonstrated understanding of US GAAP and Accrual Accounting
  • Attention to detail and ability to identify and solve problems
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and operate in a fast paced, dynamic environment while adapting to new challenges
  • Well-developed written and oral communications skills
  • Takes initiative and a proactive approach 
  • Ability to learn and apply critical thinking as needed
  • Good math aptitude and the ability to work accurately with numbers are essential
  • Highly collaborative team player

Preferred Skills / Experience:

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPS, IF, COUNT)
  • Multi-entity coding experience

Based on relevant market data and other factors, the anticipated hiring range for this role is $58,600 - $71,000 annually. Final compensation rates will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, and internal equity considerations. This role is also short-term incentive eligible. Incentive amounts will vary by individual and business goals.
