Job description

🚀 About Compa

Compa is a venture-backed SaaS startup revolutionizing the future of compensation.

In a dynamic job market with hiring challenges, accountability, and the rise of AI, companies need the best data to stay ahead of industry changes, competition, and costs. Compa has developed the premier real-time compensation data platform, delivering top-tier compensation intelligence to leading enterprise teams.

Compa is a compensation intelligence company built to augment enterprise compensation teams in the era of AI.

Our customers include the world’s biggest companies: Apple, NVIDIA, Tesla, Mastercard, T-Mobile, Sanofi, Moderna, Gilead Sciences, and more.

Why this role exists

We’re a lean, Series A SaaS company with aggressive growth plans that needs a metrics-obsessed partner to scale finance from “hustle” to “board-ready engine.” You’ll be the force-multiplier—owning SaaS analytics, FP&A plumbing, and the unglamorous ops work that frees leadership to raise capital and set strategy.

Core responsibilities

SaaS Metrics & Modeling

  • Maintain and enhance the ARR waterfall, retention cohorts, CAC/LTV, payback, Rule-of-40 dashboards.

  • Run a three-statement, driver-based model; perform sensitivities on pricing, churn, sales capacity.

  • Partner with RevOps to improve CRM data quality → accurate bookings/renewals feeds.

  • Write monthly “why-it-moved” commentary for execs and board.

Finance (Strategic & Tactical)

  • Forecasting, scenario planning, board materials, variance analysis.

  • Evaluate/implement FP&A tooling (Mosaic, Cube, etc.).

  • Support audit prep, SOC 2, and lender/investor requests.

Operations / BizOps

  • Streamline order-to-cash (HubSpot → Payment) and collections; track DSOs.

  • Document repeatable SOPs across Finance & Ops (Scribe or similar tool).

  • Special projects: vendor negotiations, cost-benefit analyses, systems roll-outs.

Success outcomes

What “great” looks like:

90 days

• Publish an automated SaaS KPI pack (ARR waterfalls, gross / net dollar retention, CAC payback, Rule-of-40, cohort LTV) by close + 5.• Rebuild the driver-based forecast so ARR, cash, and GAAP revenue reconcile within <1 %.

180 days

• Stand up a self-serve metrics layer (Looker/Power BI/Other) —no more ad-hoc data pulls.• Cut forecast variance to <2 % on ARR and <5 % on burn.• Reduce monthly close from 15 to <10 business days.

12 months

• Own the board-ready SaaS narrative; Director reviews, doesn’t re-write.• Deliver scenario planning for diligence (base / –25 % churn / 2× pipeline conversion/etc.).• Finance “housekeeping” (payroll audits, vendor onboarding) consumes <20 % of Director time.

Must-have qualifications
  • 4–6 yrs in high-growth B2B SaaS FP&A/BizOps with direct ownership of ARR waterfall and retention analytics.

  • Fluent in SaaS definitions (ARR vs. MRR, committed ARR, NDR, CAC payback, Rule-of-40) and able to teach them to non-finance peers.

  • Advanced Excel/Google Sheets/SQL; comfortable with window functions/CTEs. Python or R a plus.

  • Hands-on with a BI or FP&A tool (Looker, Power BI, Tableau, Mosaic, Cube, Anaplan).

  • Proven process builder—automated a report, redesigned a workflow, or implemented a system that saved real hours or dollars.

Nice-to-have
  • Experience supporting HR/payroll or SOC 2 compliance.

  • Exposure to fundraising, debt facilities, or M&A.

  • Curiosity around AI and knowledge of applications in finance
