Job description

GEICO's People Technology organization is growing! We are seeking a Senior Staff Engineer to join our Workday group specializing in Core HR Data, Job Architecture, Advanced Compensation tools and Benefits Life Events. In this role you will drive the strategy and execution of a technical roadmap specializing in HR systems to ensure all digital assets operate in a highly reliable, responsive and efficient way. You will help drive our transformation as we transition from a traditional IT model to a tech organization with engineering excellence as its mission.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership in the continuous improvement and deployment of HR systems aligned to GEICO’s needs and strategy

  • Principal lead for architecture reviews involving core people technologies and mission-critical services

  • Lead the full SDLC including technical research, requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance

  • Collaborate with cross-functional leaders, including the GEICO People Team, to maintain reliable and durable production systems

  • Foster effective collaboration and mentor junior engineers ensuring associate growth and development

  • Manage the technical aspects of vendor relationships and make technology adoption recommendations

  • Actively contribute to open-source projects and other communities of practice within Geico and the industry

  • Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends to recommend enhancements in people technology

Candidate Qualifications and Skills

  • Proven experience in a technology leadership role supporting HR teams

  • Expert-level knowledge of HR systems, methodologies, and principles, especially in core HR data, Job Architecture, Advanced Compensation tools, and Benefits Life Events

  • Strong understanding of cloud security best practices and compliance standards

  • Exemplary ability to design, perform experiments, and influence engineering direction and product roadmap

  • Experience architecting and developing a mix of custom and third-party solutions to support strategic initiatives

  • Experience partnering with engineering teams and transferring research to production

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities, with a keen eye for detail and a passion for driving operational efficiency and automation

Experience

  • 8+ years of experience with architecture and design

  • 8+ years of HR technology experience

  • 10+ years of professional software development/configuration/support experience

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or equivalent education or work experience

Annual Salary

$115,000.00 - $260,000.00

The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
