The Opportunity
Adept Group is seeking a Senior Packaging Engineer to join our Life Science team! This person would have at least 5-7 years of packaging engineering experience in the life science industry. They would also have experience with primary and secondary packaging for solid doses, sterile injections, and combination products. Working knowledge of pharmaceutical industry practices, regulations and compendia –e.g. cGMPs, USP, EP, ASTM, CPSC, CFR, ISO, change control, design controls, stability testing, validation, temperature-controlled logistics, and serialization are also required.
Additionally, this candidate would have broad knowledge of and experience working with leading packaging component suppliers (primary & secondary) in pharmaceutical industry, as well as site operations experience with either internal or external (CMO).
This person must be located in the Northeast (NJ, NY, PA) or in North Carolina. Some travel required (domestic and possibly international).
Key Responsibilities:
Leads complex projects or assignments within large projects with minimal supervision.
Lead packaging qualification activities by generating packaging protocols, overseeing test execution, analyzing test data, and authoring qualification reports.
Provide technical expertise for packaging risk assessments and failure mode/root cause analyses.
Lead the improvement and standardization of packaging on existing products with focus on performance and cost effectiveness.
Plan and execute a design of experiments. Perform statistical analysis on data generated from experiments and write final reports.
Initiate and coordinate packaging line trials including planning, conducting and post-trial activities.
Partner with purchasing and production departments to determine costs and feasibility of producing proposed packaging.
Lead internal and external relationships to effectively influence and gain support for initiatives.
Able to identify areas of cost savings or improvements to new and on market products.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering.
5-7+ years packaging engineering experience.
Technical depth on a packaging material, format, or process.
Advanced understanding of the full packaging development and qualification process (or stage gate process).
Developing Trial plans & Creating lab requests.
Reviewing and updating specifications as needed.
Travel to and facilitate trials at sites.
Advanced knowledge of requirements related to packaging and labeling, ensuring robust package validation and qualification.
Advanced understanding of project timeline development.
Demonstrated effective communications (verbally and in writing) across internal and external teams.
Demonstrated ability to multitask and manage time efficiently and effectively across multiple activities and tasks simultaneously.
