RIVA Solutions is seeking a versatile and results-driven Mid-Level DevOps Engineer to support the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) under the OCIO’s Collaborative Services Division (CSD). This individual will support the modernization, automation, and performance optimization of infrastructure and applications across a product-centric federal IT environment.

Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Lead implementation of DevOps best practices across complex technology environments.
  • Serve as a bridge between legacy development/operations teams and modern DevSecOps practices.
  • Deploy, configure, and manage infrastructure using IaaS solutions, including AWS and automation frameworks.
  • Optimize system uptime and performance through continuous monitoring and system tuning.
  • Configure and manage application stacks and servers to support dynamic web environments.
  • Use scripting tools to automate recurring processes and drive efficiency (e.g., Shell, Python).
  • Debug and troubleshoot cluster-based and distributed computing architectures.
  • Operate and integrate enterprise system monitoring and logging tools.
  • Integrate configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Terraform) to support CI/CD.
  • Conduct performance analysis and implement load balancing to ensure high availability.
  • Address cybersecurity vulnerabilities and support POA&M remediation.
  • Apply ITSM processes and assist in applying firewall, authentication, and access control protocols.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of engineering design protocols, service dependencies, and operational workflows.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field.
  • Experience leading technology implementations in a product-centric federal IT environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to modernize legacy systems and foster a shared DevOps culture.
  • Hands-on experience with infrastructure automation, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-native services.
  • Strong scripting background (Unix/Linux Shell, Python, etc.) and familiarity with DevOps toolchains.
  • Experience in securing enterprise environments and implementing vulnerability remediation plans.
  • Knowledge of system monitoring, performance tuning, and service availability practices.
  • Understanding of IT service management (ITSM) frameworks and practices.

Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Experience supporting federal agencies such as USPTO or Department of Commerce.
  • Familiarity with AWS services, Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, and GitLab.
  • Working knowledge of configuration management and monitoring platforms (e.g., Prometheus, Splunk).
  • Exposure to Agile methodologies and DevSecOps environments.
