The Opportunity

The Continuous Improvement Engineer will be responsible for carrying out a wide array of project work under the direct supervision and guidance of the Process Excellence Manager and fellow Senior Process Engineers (Black Belts). This role will support department-level initiatives on productivity, workflow improvements, and business process management. Incumbent will assist with work execution and data-driven decisions by applying the applicable Lean Six Sigma methodology and tools, and demonstrate basic proficiency in statistical tools to provide financial impact and customer benefits. The market equivalent is a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.

Day in the Life

  • Use LEAN Six Sigma methodologies (Define-Measure-Analyze-Improve-Control) to assess current operating procedures and envision the future state.

  • Leverage the seven (7) basic quality tools for process improvement to help the organization understand and improve its processes.

  • In coordination with Continuous Improvement leadership and fellow Senior CI Engineers, execute data collection, provide analysis and support to all assigned departments to achieve stated productivity gains as outlined in Goals and Strategies: -Conduct fact-finding -Develop Dashboards -Track and Validate project benefits.

  • Apply all aspects and concepts of Lean Six Sigma methodologies (Define-Measure-Analyze-Improve-Control)

  • Track progress and report on success and performance metrics of productivity project(s).

  • Identify key performance indicators and establish process linkages with dashboards.

  • Support department(s) in achieving their productivity assignments and goals; work closely with representatives in each area to define a prioritized list of projects.

  • Share learnings with the Continuous Improvement department and appropriate management.

  • Maintain a critical eye by discovering and highlighting improvement opportunities in waste (Transportation, Inventory, Motion, Waiting, Overproduction, overprocessing, Defects).

  • Identify and define broader cross-functional ideas to Process Excellence leadership and fellow Senior Continuous Improvement Engineers.

  • Drive process standardization and repeatability via appropriate policy and process documentation.

  • Deliver Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt training to Velera employees. Mentor Candidates through project completion to achieve certification.  

  • Demonstrate understanding with software that is centered on process management and statistical data, and analyze relevant data to ensure fact-based decisions are made.

  • Act as mentor, teacher, coach, identifier, and influencer to Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt Students, Candidates, and Continuous Improvement Community.

  • Provide program management support, including complex projects that align with strategic or enterprise-level initiatives.

  • Discover and act on improvement opportunities, as applicable to the organization's needs.

  • Be an advocate for Lean Six Sigma tools and strategies.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree with emphasis in a technical (science or engineering) field or business (finance) preferred.

  • Green Belt required or ability to obtain within one year. Lean Six Sigma Green Belt preferred.   

  • Five (5) years of business experience with specific experience in support of reengineering and productivity required.

  • Experience in the financial industry is strongly preferred.

Pay Equity

$67,700.00

to

$86,300.00

Actual Pay will be adjusted based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
