ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Join world-class experts in finding answers to our customers’ toughest questions as our Sr. Business Development Manager based in Singapore. We are looking for a Sr. Business Development Manager being responsible for bringing the science of photonics and spectrum using spectrophotometers to the B2B world of processes and showcase value to customers in various industries in Southeast Asia/ Australia/New Zealand by resolving some of the key challenges faced by them. Ocean Optics technology needs an organized and structured approach to harnessing potential application opportunities and create sustainable demand. Hence, creating and managing a pipeline of opportunities with long customer development cycles and tactical pivots / focus on those which can be closed to meet short term business targets as well.

  • Working with global marketing team on lead generation, responsible for leads follow up and conversion, close sales opportunities, meet sales and revenue target for the region.
  • Manage and set target for distributors in the region, leverage distributors to expand Ocean business in SEA and ANZ.
  • Develop and execute a long-term plan translated into short term goals to create market in SEA and ANZ by developing multiple market segments and adding new key accounts within targeted segments, while also growing the existing account base.
  • Analyse customer needs in various industries, create valuable solutions that justify premium, and establish barriers to entry for competitors.
  • Establish multiple intermediaries who can integrate spectrophotometers into devices or end-products customized to customer applications.
  • Compete and win OEM customers, increase market share, and accelerate growth in sectors like Lab Grown Diamonds, pharma, research, consumer electronics, semiconductors, environmental, food, agriculture, life sciences and so on.
  • Identify and disrupt the mindset of customer by brining innovative ideas.
  • Responsible for developing new market segments.
  • As the role grows, develop high-value key accounts, build capabilities in the business and improve the regional infrastructure to support customers.
  • Engage with industry experts, identify industry tradeshows and events, develop a target networking plan and define strategies to increase awareness of Ocean Optics solutions like use of digital marketing, conduct webinars etc.
  • Establish and own business region and review revenue numbers (pricing, inventory, sales cycle, gross, margin, forecasting, etc). 
  • Improve and grow existing accounts to their full potential, meeting or exceeding all sales targets aligned to fiscal year priorities across revenue, focused on increasing gross margins.
  • Drive product and solution by working with engineering and product development and marketing teams, delivering customer commitments on time and on budget.
  • Monitor, understand and tap opportunities that arise from changes in regulatory requirements in various industries from time to time.
  • Evaluate potential risks associated with market shifts, regulatory changes, or competitive threats and devise contingency plans to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities.

ABOUT THE CANDIDATE

  • Bachelor’ s degree.
  • Must have good written and verbal communications.
  • The ideal candidate brings a natural curiosity for science & technology with a passion for creating new markets, tackling ever-changing challenges, and has a knack for making things happen. A “can-do” attitude, pro-active and collaborative spirit with a flexible work style is also essential in this role. This person should be a self-starter with extensive experience in creating multiple market segment based on application knowledge.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit and mindset, with a vision for what “can be” and the willingness to challenge status quo and explore the unknown.
  • Constantly retrospection to learn key lessons from mistakes and agile to pivot on those opportunities that can be closed early in the business development cycle.
  • Good Presentation skills with clarity in thoughts and storytelling capability to deliver keynotes with large audiences.
  • Excellent skills in planning, communications, analytical capabilities, and attention to detail.
  • An active curiosity about our staff and culture, our industry, and, importantly, understanding the true value of our sales proposition.
  • Proven track record of Pipeline Management with success in achieving targets, creating plans and growing market share, converting sales, and building lasting customer relationships.
  • Deep understanding of managing an omni-channel approach to market opportunities including distributors and their motivators.
  • Ability to create, present and win support from the leadership team for approach to local Market .
  • 15+ years of experience in sales, and application/business development.
  • Experience in the B2B industry, which may include applications in lab applications, consumer electronics, semiconductor, chemical analysis, physics measurement, pharmaceuticals, food supply chain, or soil, water, or air analysis markets.
  • Core Sales and Business development experience and exposure to multiple applications is a must.
