Job Description

We’re seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our dynamic finance team during an exciting period of expansion. This role offers unique exposure to modern construction accounting practices while working with cutting-edge systems and processes. You’ll collaborate directly with the accounting manager and controller, playing a crucial role in maintaining financial accuracy and supporting strategic growth initiatives. As we scale our operations, this position offers excellent potential for professional development and increased responsibilities.

Responsibilities
  • Execute daily accounting operations including journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Manage and reconcile sales tax (HST) accounts ensuring compliance with Canadian tax requirements
  • Process and verify inter company transactions and prepare elimination entries
  • Maintain and update financial reporting materials for management review
  • Perform daily cash reconciliations and banking updates
  • Support accounts payable processes through three-way matching verification
  • Assist in maintaining and updating cash flow tracking systems
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Support month-end and period-end closing procedures

Requirements
  • 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a growth-oriented environment
  • Strong Excel skills and ability to adapt to new accounting systems
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial documentation
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new systems quickly (training will be provided)
  • Experience with ERP systems is beneficial
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and procedures
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently while supporting team goals
  • Professional approach to handling confidential financial information
  • Ability to maintain accuracy while working in a fast-paced environment
