Job Summary 

The Manager, Strategy and Enterprise Planning is a highly visible role responsible for driving cross-functional enterprise initiatives and long-term financial planning. Reporting to the Senior Director, Financial Planning & Analysis, this position supports executive leadership by delivering strategic project analysis, managing the G&A, License, and Capex forecasting process, and developing materials for the Board of Directors, investors, and earnings communications. This leader will collaborate across teams to influence enterprise decision-making and strengthen the connection between Support Center planning and Shack-level operations across Shake Shack’s global footprint. 

 

Job Responsibilities and Duties 

  • Strategic Finance: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to measure the full financial impact of a variety of strategic and transformational projects. Establish KPIs to measure the success of initiatives. Stay abreast of industry trends, competitor benchmarks, and emerging technologies to inform strategic decisions. 

  • Enterprise Strategic Planning and Management: Manage financial models, including the Long Range Plan, and run enterprise-wide strategic investments and long-term planning models. 

  • Enterprise Forecasting and Business Partnership: Work closely with finance teams and business leaders to update monthly G&A and Capex forecasts and lead the annual budget process. Act as a strong business partner to functional leads, assisting them in understanding business drivers and trends. Provide robust analytics to drive understanding of trends, ROIC, and other important metrics. 

  • Presentations and Reporting: Produce enterprise-level reporting such as P&Ls, KPIs, and monthly financial decks for executives. Prepare Board of Directors' presentations, earnings supplemental materials, and other external presentations as needed. 

  • Oversee License Business Analytics: Work closely with the global license team and the FP&A team to understand trends within our global license business. Responsible for driving the budget and forecast. 

 

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities 

  • The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record in strategic and FP&A leadership within the restaurant or hospitality industry. They will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and exceptional communication abilities. A passion for driving change and a deep understanding of operational dynamics in a multi-unit restaurant / retail environment are essential for success in this role, as is a deep understanding of digital transformations. They will provide deep analytics and understanding of both projects and trends that impact our Enterprise, including G&A and Capex investments. 

  • Industry knowledge: Deep understanding of the multi-unit restaurant industry, including trends, best practices, and competitive dynamics. 

  • Operational efficiency: Knowledge of operational processes and best practices specific to restaurant management, including food service, supply chain, restaurant equipment, digital channels, and guest experience is a plus.  

  • License business: Familiarity with license business agreements, brand management and strategies for optimizing licensed operations. 

  • Financial acumen: Understanding of financial metrics and performance indicators relevant to restaurant operations and transformation initiatives. 

  • Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adjust strategies as needed in response to changing circumstances. 

  • Collaboration: Capacity to work effectively with diverse teams and build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels in the organization.

Related Experience 

  • Prior experience in corporate FP&A, in particular planning G&A and Capex budgets. 

  • Experience analyzing the financial impacts from large-scale projects or programs, preferably related to operational improvement, technology implementation or customer experience enhancements. 

  • Experience working collaboratively across various departments (e.g., marketing, finance, operations) to measure impact from transformational initiatives. 

  • Research experience is a plus, as is the ability to drive robust financial analysis of scenarios. 

  • Experience in financial roles or positions that involve budget management, cost analysis, and performance metrics that provide insight into the financial implications of transformation initiatives.  

  • Experience with technology adoption and integration in restaurant operations, such as point-of-sale systems, inventory management and/or digital platforms.  

  • Background in Strategic Planning and Execution roles, such as Strategy or Business Development, or Consulting, is a plus.

Pay Range - $116,784.00 - $153,264.00
