Job description

About Us

At Madden, we're not your typical marketing agency. We're a full-service destination marketing agency that blends tech-savvy know-how with creative flair to help destinations shine. Innovation? Check. Data-driven strategies? Double check. A passion for storytelling that brings destinations to life? Oh yeah, we've got that too.

We're constantly evolving to meet the needs of our tourism partners, driven by performance and aligned with their goals. With Madden's Agile approach, we flex and adapt to connect our clients with travelers, groups, and event planners, creating campaigns that don't just reach people-they inspire action.

We offer the whole shebang: full-agency services and omni-channel solutions. By combining research-backed insights, captivating storytelling, and strategically executed campaigns, we deliver results that move the needle (and then some).

About You

You are effective in communicating both internally and externally and are confident in representing Madden in the destination marketing and public relations industry. You're excited about joining a team who support each other and you are a confident manager in helping the team learn and grow. You are eager to contribute your unique talents in a collaborative effort to bring our team to new levels of collaboration and productivity. Most importantly, you stand ready to contribute and grow in a dynamic environment where every day brings new opportunities and challenges. As important as it is to develop the strategy, your best work will come when you inspire, empower and enable the team to deliver it.

About The Job

We're looking for a Senior Associate Director, PR (SAD) who can develop and sustain strong media relationships on behalf of our clients, lead client strategy and assist the larger PR teams in execution. The SAD will work with a collaborative team to assist our clients in PR and media relations strategy with the intent to reach travelers to learn and experience destinations all over the United States.

On a nitty-gritty level, we are looking for the following:

  • Someone who can craft magnetic PR strategies that turn travel stories into headlines, stirring up curiosity across media channels and drawing attention to the communities we serve.
  • Someone who can Lead, Build and nurture media relationships - from top-tier journalists to niche travel bloggers - so when news breaks, you're already on speed dial.
  • Someone who can build and lead award-winning PR campaigns that blend data and creativity, delivering not only glowing press coverage but measurable community impact.
  • Someone who can collaborate across teams (creative, media, strategy) to make sure every campaign sings with a unified voice
  • Someone who can keep their finger on the pulse of industry trends, breaking news, and cultural moments, so Madden's PR machine stays ahead of the curve (and competitors).
  • Someone who can oversee crisis communications with grace under pressure - you're the calm voice who knows how to flip challenges into trust-building moments.
  • Someone who can measure and report on PR success past traditional metrics, to use data that actually matters, helping Madden show the true value of its work.
  • Someone who can mentor and inspire the PR team, setting a high bar for creativity, accountability, and those "why didn't I think of that?" moments.
  • Someone who can ideate buzzworthy activations and media missions that get people talking - from jaw-dropping stunts to immersive press trips - turning communities into the "must-cover" story of the moment.
  • Someone who can cultivate trusted client relationships by being a proactive partner, offering smart counsel, and making sure they always feel seen, heard, and hyped about the work.
  • Open to travel commitments up to 30%.

Don't Meet Every Requirement?

That's okay! At Madden, we believe diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences make us stronger. If this role excites you but your path doesn't line up perfectly with the qualifications above, we still want to hear from you. Who knows-you might bring something to the table we didn't even know we needed.

What You'll Get From Us

We see your success as our success. When you join our team, you'll get:

  • Opportunities to grow your skillset through training, new challenges, and learning experiences.
  • A team that's got your back and is ready to help you thrive.
  • A workplace culture that values intelligence, ambition, authenticity, and a willingness to learn.
  • No hoops to jump through about degrees or specific experience-we care about what you can do and what you bring to the table.

About The Interview Process

We like to keep it simple and transparent. Here's what the process may look like:

Round 1: A friendly chat with our Recruiter to get to know you and share more about the role.

Round 2: An interview with some of the awesome teammates you'll collaborate with.

Round 3: A conversation with the Team Lead(s) to dive deeper into the role and team fit.

Note: Depending on the position, there might be a small assignment along the way to showcase your skills and creativity. Don't worry-we'll let you know in advance!

Heads up: At this time, we do not offer Visa sponsorship or relocation services.
