The Opportunity

The Pricing strategist is a senior consulting role within the proposal support function that can generate and consult on pricing proposals as well as serve as a critical developer of financial valuation tools, reporting, and analytics alignment to support consultant team efficiency in proposal generation across dozens of Velera products and platform configurations. Role is a critical hybrid contributor to the success of the organization in responding to a dynamic deal crafting environment.

Day in the Life

  • Designing and implementing pricing models and financial valuation models based on various strategies like value-based pricing, cost-plus pricing, considering customer segmentation of Velera.

  • Preparing regular reports as required on discounting levels, pricing performance, market trends, and key metrics to provide insights to senior management on routine and ad-hoc basis as needed / assigned across legacy configurations and contractual concessions.

  • Analyze external costs, internal costs, overhead expenses, and other relevant factors to determine the minimum viable price points for products and services for use at deal P&L level using sourcing data from product, financial systems, and industry data for incorporation within deal level financial modeling and strategic stand-alone solution sales that informs the go to market pricing and financial playbooks.

  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of existing pricing strategies partnering with pricing consultants on what they are seeing and hearing from the sales field, identify opportunities for price adjustments for market relevance, and implement changes in coordination with product owners and FP&A to bring to pricing committee stakeholders. 

  • Utilize data analytics tools and partner effectively with internal resources to gather and interpret pricing benchmark comparable and metrics to inform pricing decisions and ultimately drive behavior and influence stakeholders for competitive pricing. 

  • Partner with internal supports to enable visualizations and charting of competitive win/loss data and statistical plotting of data sets that show competitiveness of a given offering relative to peer groups. 

  • Work with proposal support team members, sales, and client growth to establish and document conditions for success and loss as needed.

  • Create product pricing positioning that resonates with sales and the target buyer personas.

  • Evaluate proposals against Velera’s strategic goals, current capabilities and reconcile offerings across the various Velera platform configurations.

  • Use market and competitive data to refine strategy, positioning, and messaging to internal stakeholders as bank and credit unions needs evolve.

  • Collaborate with finance, marketing, account management, sales, operations and product to develop pricing promotions that support enterprise and LOB/product strategies.

  • Collaborate with Solutions Consultants, Sales Operations / Enablement to communicate the value proposition to National Sales and Account Executives.

  • Create playbooks with marketing, operations and sales/account management and leadership team to communicate competitive and strategic positioning.

  • Present findings and recommendations to execute approved pricing plans for selling lines of business.

  • Build and modify pricing tools to support sales efforts.

  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

  • Ten (10) years of payments product knowledge and/or payments industry experience required.

  • (5) years directly related business pricing consultation experience to include developing business pricing strategy supporting and enabling Sales and Account Management teams required.

  • Experience in dashboard development Power BI, or other business intelligence applications preferred

  • Experience in project management preferred  

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • You are a self starter and ability to work independently with strong management qualities and curiosity

  • Expert MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word skills.  Capabilities to include VBA, macros, and/or relational database required.  Prior model building or FP&A background in complex financial valuation preferred.

  • Ability to influence key stakeholders using data, and well informed opinions across a broad range of stakeholder incentives and interests for the benefit of the overall business

  • Strong analytical skills with ability to translate information and details into actionable recommendations

  • Proficiency in data analysis tools – PowerBI / Business Objects preferred.

  • Strong understanding of economics and pricing theory and methods – i.e. cost +; value based; usage based / subscription models

  • Ability to understand industry consultant and buyer behavior, competition, and Velera core value propositions across product and solution sets

  • Ability to balance multiple and diverse projects and support consultants activities

  • Market research and competitive analysis skills

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

  • Business acumen and strategic thinking

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams

Pay Equity

$95,800.00

to

$124,500.00

Actual Pay will be adjusted based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
